The second part of the Brandon Lloyd story sounds like Mike Sims-Walker has been released. Whether or not Sims-Walker has been released is not confirmed yet. Sims-Walker came awfully close with a cryptic tweet this morning.

Dropping Sims-Walker makes the most sense for the Rams. They would be unlikely to part ways with the rookies drafted this year, especially with those players starting to show signs of life.

The Rams may have sent a signal yesterday when they left Mike Sims-Walker on the inactive list.

Brandon Lloyd dealt to the Rams

The Denver Broncos will trade wide receiver Brandon Lloyd to the St. Louis Rams, NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora reports, citing a league source.

It was widely reported last week the Broncos were open to dealing Lloyd and shopped around ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline. The Rams, San Francisco 49ers and New England Patriots were all known to be in discussions with the Broncos, sources told The Denver Post.

Lloyd, 30, is scheduled to make $1.395 million this season. He led the league last season with 1,448 yards on 77 receptions and scored 11 touchdowns.

Lloyd has 19 catches for 283 yards and no touchdowns this season.

Fantasy Impact: 

The Rams offense has struggled getting off the ground, and Josh McDaniels is obviously familiar with Brandon Lloyd from his time in Denver. Lloyd should step in as the WR1, but we don't see a mid-season change of scenery as a huge boost to his fantasy value.

Danario Alexander will likely be the two with Brandon Gibson taking a back seat and Mike Sims-Walker (healthy scratch) possibly being released. Mark Clayton doesn't look to be a factor at this point. This could help Sam Bradford, but could take some time. One thing the Rams do have going for them is an easier schedule moving forward.

This is good news for Eric Decker in Denver, and also could be a signal that 2nd year WR Demaryius Thomas is ready to make an impact.

With only one productive game this season (six catches against the New York Giants), and after dropping two passes in Game 4 against Washington, Mike Sims-Walker was yanked from the starting lineup and placed on the pregame inactive list. Sims-Walker, a free agent from Jacksonville, was working with the scout team by the end of the practice week, running the routes of Green Bay receivers for the Rams' starting defense.

"The young guys, we thought we'd give a chance there," coach Steve Spagnuolo said.

Fantasy Impact: 

The story points out that Brandon Gibson, Danario Alexander, and rookie Greg Salas combined for 18 catches for 211 yards. In addition, rookie tight end Lance Kendricks added four catches for 71 yards. The team hasn't been impressed with Sims-Walker and is looking to these younger guys to see what they have. The team is also rumored to be in the market for WR Brandon Lloyd of Denver before the trade deadline.
