We're three days into Dolphins training camp and the Mike Wallace factor hasn't been felt so far.

Wallace hasn't roasted any cornerbacks deep.... YET. Without hitting we really can't tell his run-after-catch skills.....YET. And to be completely honest, Wallace doesn't have great chemistry with quarterback Ryan Tannehill....YET.

That was evident the entire offseason.

However, I can't help but recall Brandon Marshall's first training camp as a Dolphin. The four-time Pro Bowler truly lived up to his "Beast" nickname by pushing around all of Miami's defensive backs back in that 2010 camp.

Fantasy Impact: 

Mike Wallace has the #17 PPG average (in standard formats) over the last two seasons, and if he's able to develop a rapport with QB Ryan Tannehill this offseason, he should be a capable fantasy WR2 in 2013. His YPC (13.1) and Catch % (55%) dropped, but that was partly due to Ben Roethilsberger missing three games during the season. Even though he had a down year in 2012, he averaged 4.5-63-.67 in 12 games with Roethlisberger, which are similar to his 4.5-75-.50 averages in 2011. We typically prefer receivers whose situations are obviously improved (or at least relatively unchanged), but Wallace should be able to make some noise in South Beach if he can get on the same page as his quarterback. Steelers expecting 70-1,000 from Emmanuel Sanders

Once Mike Wallace became a free agent, Steelers WR Emmanuel Sanders slid up the depth chart by default. Whether he broke training camp as the top dog having yet to be seen, his role was bound to increase. Now, we know how far the team expects it to increase.

"They're expecting 70 catches for 1,000 yards, and that's the same thing that I expect for myself," Sanders said.

Fantasy Impact: 

We currently project Sanders for 58-863-5.5, though there is certainly room in the Pittsburgh offense for a 70-catch, 1000-yard season now that Wallace is in South Beach. If he does reach those benchmarks, he'll be a fantasy WR3 in 2013. He looks like a nice pick in the 10th/11th round.

Fantasy Impact: 

On a per game basis, Big Ben was QB12 in 2012 and QB13 in 2011, so as long as he stays healthy -- which isn't a sure thing these days -- he's likely to provide fringe fantasy starter numbers for owners in 2013. However, with Mike Wallace in Miami, Roethlisberger will be without his biggest weapon in recent years. Antonio Brown and Emmanuel Sanders will try to pick up the slack, but it appears that Roethlisberger may be without TE Heath Miller to start the season as well.

Cleveland Browns general manager Michael Lombardi once labeled Miami Dolphins wide receiver Mike Wallace the fastest player he has ever seen on tape.

No deep threat takes the top off a defense quite like Wallace.

The criticism on Wallace is that he's not a complete receiver, doesn't run a full route tree and is unreliable as a go-to target. That hasn't proven to be the case with the Dolphins.

"It's not, 'If I can't get the deep ball, I can't do anything else,' " cornerback Brent Grimes told The Miami Herald. "He has good hands, can run other routes. He's not a one-trick pony."

Fantasy Impact: 

Wallace's career average of 17.2 yards per reception ranks fourth among active receivers. Since entering the NFL four years ago, Wallace leads the league with 27 receptions of 40-plus yards. We see going from QB Ben Roethlisberger in Pittsburgh to QB Ryan Tannehill in Miami as a drop off, so Wallace comes in at 22 among our WRs, which is low-end WR2, high-end WR3 range.
