Scouting report

PHI RB Miles Sanders - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Dallas
Miles Sanders had his worst day in the NFL if you look at touches last Sunday. He only had six. He also had very little time on the field only playing on 29% of his snaps. But he actually had a decent fantasy day with 92 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown. Most of the yardage came from his three receptions.

Sanders has a good matchup Sunday night against Dallas who is 30th in aFPA to running backs. If the playing time and touches are low again, it's hard to think that the fantasy numbers could be similar to last week. But we expect him to get on the field more and touch the ball 10 times or more. Start him at as low-end RB3 if you have a league that allows it.

PHI RB Miles Sanders - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at Minnesota
Miles Sanders had his worst running game as a pro but his best receiving game so that let him avoid a disastrous fantasy day. He ended up with 13 touches for 64 yards. The touches were less than fellow running back Jordan Howard but he was on the field for more offensive snaps.

Sanders has a tough matchup this week against the Vikings who are third in aFPA to running backs. The touches and results haven't matched up yet this season which has limited the fantasy impact of Sanders. Keep him on the bench this week with the tough matchup on the road.

PHI RB Miles Sanders - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs New York Jets
Jordan Howard had the big night last week, but Miles Sanders still had his best rushing day as a professional. He ended up the night with 11 carries for 72 yards and the Eagles have confidence in his ability. They just ended up going with the 'hot hand' on Thursday and that was Howard. This could change on a weekly basis.

Sanders will face the Jets who are eighth in aFPA to running backs. He still has some fantasy value heading into Week 5, especially since he has produced good results with minimal touches. He rates an RB3 this Sunday and should at least get a minimum of 10 touches.

PHI RB Miles Sanders - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at Green Bay
Miles Sanders had his best game as a pro with season highs in all departments. He had 15 touches for 126 yards. He still hasn't scored his first NFL touchdown and he lost a fumble on Sunday, but the key is the touches are going up which means good things for Sanders' owners. The playing time was even between Sanders, Jordan Howard and Darren Sproles last week.

Sanders has a decent matchup on Thursday against Green Bay who is 23rd in aFPA to running backs. With a banged-up receiving corps, the Eagles should be relying more on Sanders and the running game.

Start Sanders as a high-end RB3 or flex for Week 4. The Eagles are starting to see what they thought they would see when they selected him in the second round.

PHI RB Miles Sanders - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs Detroit
Miles Sanders is off to a slow start and for those expecting him to become the featured back, that hasn't happened yet. He is averaging around 12 touches per game, but the results haven't been good as he has only netted 64 total yards from scrimmage. It will be interesting to see how head coach moves forward with Sanders and if this is what his usage will be for the remainder of the season.

Sanders will face the Lions this Sunday, who were 23rd in aFPA to running backs last season. But even with the favorable matchup, Sanders only rates a high-end RB3 or flex for Week 3. If we start to see more touches, the better numbers should follow.

PHI RB Miles Sanders - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 at Atlanta
Miles Sanders only had 12 touches in his NFL debut and produced 27 yards but expect that to the be the floor for his production this season. The Eagles will get the ball to Sanders more as the year goes on because they are confident he is the best running back on the roster.

It's a good matchup this week as the Falcons are 25th in aFPA to running backs after one week. Sanders played 48% of the snaps Week 1 because veterans Jordan Howard and Darren Sproles also got their share. This is the one drawback of Sanders because the Eagles are likely to keep everyone involved. This pushes Sanders to an RB3 or flex for Week 2 against Atlanta. Expect a slight increase in touches but he isn't going to carry your team this week.

PHI RB Miles Sanders - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs Washington
Miles Sanders sat at Penn State but it wasn't because of his talent. He had to sit behind Saquon Barkley until last season. But he got his opportunity in 2018 and that was enough for the Eagles to select him in the second round. Now, he is the starting running back for Philadelphia.

The Eagles face the Redskins who were 15th in aFPA to running backs in 2019. There are lots of opinions on how Sanders will be used. Some of the questions stem from Coach Doug Pederson's tendency to not use a running back as a three-down back. So there is some risk playing Sanders this week.

However, he should be in your lineup for Week 1, but as an RB3 or flex. This first game will tell a lot about Sanders fantasy value moving forward.
