WAS WR Paul Richardson - 2019 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
Before getting hurt, Paul Richardson performed fairly well in 2018. The former second-round draft pick scored double digits in PPR leagues in three of the seven games he played in. He’s expected to be healthy and play a big role in Washington’s offense this season, especially with Jamison Crowder leaving.

Fantasy Downside
Washington is bringing back Josh Doctson, Trey Quinn and Brian Quick, and added rookies Terry McLaurin and Kelvin Harmon. The Redskins’ QB situation also isn’t great with either Case Keenum taking over or rookie Dwayne Haskins. There’s just a lot of unknown within this Washington receiving corps.

2019 Bottom Line
Richardson is someone you can draft late with little expectations. He’s not someone to necessarily target, but if you have a deep roster, then he could be worth a late-round flier. He showed some promise in 2018, and there’s a chance he rises to the top of this receiving group.

WAS WR Paul Richardson - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs. Atlanta Falcons

No Washington receiver is averaging more than 5.0 targets per game this season. That's precisely what Richardson saw in his return from injury last week ... for a grand total of 34 yards. He's failed to reach 70 yards in every game this season. No Washington wideout can be considered a fantasy starter at this point, even in a great match-up against the Falcons.

WAS WR Paul Richardson - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 at New York Giants

The Washington-New York game has the second-lowest over/under of Week 8 at just 43.5 points. Plus, can you remember the last time a Washington receiver has a fantasy relevant performance this season? We can't either. Josh Doctson is our top projected Redskins wideout this week and has not eclipsed 50 yards in a game this season. Suffice it to say we think no Washington wide receivers should be in your fantasy lineups in Week 8.

WAS WR Paul Richardson - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs. Dallas Cowboys

Washington and Dallas is a game that's expected to be low scoring, as it is the second-lowest total on the Week 7 slate. Even with Jamison Crowder out last week, Richardson only saw five targets. He did score a touchdown, but that's all you have to bank on in Week 7 if you start Richardson. No Washington receiver is fantasy relevant, as none of them are averaging five targets per game.

WAS WR Paul Richardson - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. Carolina Panther

Washington's receivers have a lot in common with Miami's receivers. None are fantasy viable, and that includes Week 6 against Carolina's 16th-ranked defense in aFPA to WRs. The problem is no Washington WR is averaging more than 5.0 targets per game. RB Chris Thompson and TE Jordan Reed are the primary pass catchers. Richardson did have five targets last week in a game New Orleans got up big early, and even in that scenario, he did not do much with them. Hard pass on Richardson in Week 6.

WAS WR Paul Richardson - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at New Orleans Saints

Washington comes off its early bye week and heads to New Orleans for a game that's tied for the second-highest over/under of Week 5's Sunday and Monday slate. The Saints rank dead last in aFPA to WRs. Target share is the issue here though. No Washington receiver is even averaging five targets per game. Chris Thompson and Jordan Reed are taking the lead in this offense with what appears to be pre-Tyreek Hill Alex Smith running the show at quarterback. Remember when Smith went an entire season without a touchdown to a wide receiver? Yeah, don't play a Washington receiver unless you're desperate. You just don't know which will pop in any given week.

WAS WR Paul Richardson - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs. Green Bay Packers

Our preseason fears have been realized for this group of Washington WRs with Alex Smith at quarterback and Jordan Reed healthy. Here are the target totals for Redskins pass-catchers this season: RB Chris Thompson-21, TE Jordan Reed-13, Paul Richardson-12, Josh Doctson-10, Jamison Crowder-8, RB Adrian Peterson-6, TE Vernon Davis-2. The ball is being spread around and no Washington wide receiver is fantasy relevant in Week 3. The production just isn't there through two weeks.
