Chiefs agreed to terms with Peyton Hillis.

The one-year deal is reportedly worth $3 million.

Fantasy Impact:

Chiefs OC Brian Daboll likely prompted this move -- he was the OC for the Browns when Hillis had his breakthrough campaign. If the bruising RB can regain his form, he should prove to be a nice complement to the speed of Jamaal Charles, and also offers some insurance if Charles doesn't come back as expected.

Report: Peyton Hillis has considered retirement

The Browns have decided not to use their franchise tag on running back Peyton Hillis, according to a source familiar with the situation.

Throughout the past season, Hillis has wavered about whether he wants to continue playing football, and even considered joining the CIA, according to team sources.

It is unclear if he actually pursued a career with the CIA.

Hillis told Browns coaches as recently as the end of the season that he was contemplating retirement, though it now looks as if he will continue playing, the sources said.

But Hillis has felt defeated throughout his time in football, whether it was being benched at Arkansas in favor of Felix Jones and Darren McFadden, being traded by the Denver Broncos, or being unable to procure the long-term deal he desired in Cleveland.

It led him to tell Browns coaches that he didn't know whether he wanted to play football anymore.

Now Hillis is about to become a free agent and test his value on the open market.

Browns general manager Tom Heckert told ESPN's Josina Anderson Wednesday that the team would like to keep Hillis if the contract is reasonable.

Browns GM Tom Heckert said he hasn’t talked to Peyton Hillis’ representatives since midseason but will do so “in the next week or so.” Hillis can hit the free agency market March 13.

“We wouldn’t be adverse to bringing him back,” Heckert said. “Now we have to see what else is available and what our plans are for our other free agents.”

Fantasy Impact:

Yeesh - "wouldn't be adverse" isn't exactly a ringing endorsement for Hillis, who clearly lost a lot of money this season after failing to come to terms on a new deal with the Browns in the offseason.
