Scouting report

NO WR Rashid Shaheed - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Los Angeles Rams

Even as the de facto WR1 in New Orleans, Rashid Shaheed saw just four targets and caught three passes for 36 yards. The crazy part is he led all wide receivers in yards but Derek Carr threw two of his three touchdown passes to tight ends. Chris Olave may be out again so Shaheed will again be the "WR1" but maybe in name only. He's a flex play at best for the fantasy semifinals against the Rams, an improving defense.

Update: Shaheed is back to the No. 2 receiver with Chris Olave playing. Shaheed takes a hit in fantasy value this week, more like a WR4 now instead of a potential WR3.

NO WR Rashid Shaheed - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Atlanta Falcons

Rashid Shaheed had been a boom-or-bust option as the No. 3 receiver in New Orleans. He should see a bit more opportunity for the next few weeks with Michael Thomas on injured reserve. He even saw a season-high nine targets against Minnesota in Week 10, though Jameis Winston played a good bit of that game. Still, Derek Carr should look his way a few times as a deep threat. Shaheed is a risky WR3 this week but has upside with how he's scored deep touchdowns this season and Atlanta can provide one of those touchdowns.

NO WR Rashid Shaheed - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 at Minnesota Vikings

We've said Rashid Shaheed is boom-or-bust and sometimes too reliant on the big-play ability when it comes to fantasy. Last week: three catches, 22 yards. Week 8: three catches, 153 yards. That's Shaheed in a nutshell so if you play him, you're pretty much baking on one of those big plays hitting. But maybe Minnesota, and their issues at cornerback, may be a team he hits against.

NO WR Rashid Shaheed - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. Chicago Bears

Rashid Shaheed once again was the deep threat for the Saints and it paid off big time last week. Three catches for 151 yards and a touchdown for Shaheed. That was all on just three targets for Shaheed, so you’re talking about a boom-or-bust play here. He’s likely still behind a number of receivers in the pecking order for the Saints, making Shaheed a deep flex option.

NO WR Rashid Shaheed - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

Rashid Shaheed scored his second touchdown of the season in his best performance since Week 1. However, he hasn't caught more than three passes since Week 2. He continues to work as the deep threat for the Saints, but he's a boom-or-bust play as the third option on the outside and arguably the fourth option overall. But if you're in a pinch with the bye weeks, Shaheed may be worth a quick gamble.

NO WR Rashid Shaheed - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at New England Patriots

You're basically banking on a deep shot from Rashid Shaheed if you're starting him. Every now and then, he'll break out for a nice output, but it's really all about those deep shots and if they connect, which they really didn't against the Buccaneers. A healthy Derek Carr may help change that, but Shaheed still remains a very deep Flex option this week against the Patriots, even with four teams on a bye.

NO WR Rashid Shaheed - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at Green Bay Packers

Shaheed has gotten a few catches each week to start the season. But Derek Carr hasn't exactly been wowing everyone with his play and Shaheed is the No. 3 option out wide behind Chris Olave and Michael Thomas. That's a tough combination for fantasy purposes. But if you're in a deeper league, he's worth a look.
