Buccaneers RB Ronald Jones putting the work in this year

For Ronald Jones, the best thing about this year is it’s not last year.

He is taking an Etchosketch approach, shaking it up to erase a forgettable rookie season.

“Last year was a disappointment for me,” Jones said Saturday at SportsCon 2019 in Dallas. “I’m putting in the work to make sure it doesn’t happen again.”

Fantasy Impact: 

Jones put on a lot of muscle in the offseason and it's his goal to lead the rushing attack this season in Tampa Bay. It's certainly possible as last year the Bucs rushing game wasn't great despite being led by Barber most of the season, and early reports say Barber will again lead the attack this year. We do rank Jones ahead of Barber in PPR formats, but just 47th on our RB list.

Peyton Barber is certainly likely to finish with more yards right now. They’re just taking a shot on Ronald Jones hoping he plays like a 2nd-round draft pick.

Fantasy Impact: 

Many seemed to think this could be the year Jones emerges, but Auman doesn't seem to be buying in. Right now, we do have Jones ranked higher, but this will be a position battle to watch this summer.

Bucs QB Jameis Winston yesterday on RB Ronald Jones: "I would say RoJo has been showing out. His confidence, his comfort, RoJo's a smart guy. He's getting comfortable in this offense. No one is breathing down his neck. He's more relaxed and executing at a high level."

More Winston on Ronald Jones: "I know how talented he is. That's why he was a second-round pick. My first year, my first game wasn't like I would have wanted it. You have to continue to move forward, to grow and get better. I see drastic improvements coming in this season."

Fantasy Impact: 

Tampa Bay showed their confidence in the sophomore back by not drafting another RB this offseason and only adding Andre Ellington in free agency, who was out of the NFL last year. Jones and Peyton Barber should share the workload, and hopefully, this early boost will propel last season's second-round pick to the next level. Jones is currently being drafted as RB40 in the late-eighth round.

Buccaneers RB Ronald Jones (hamstring, questionable) took full practice reps all week and is questionable for Week 12. Jones should return this week and we’re worried about what that means for Peyton Barber’s heavy workload.
