Fantasy Upside
Russell Gage firmly takes over the WR2 role in Atlanta with Julio Jones now in Tennessee. Gage averaged about seven targets per game in 2020 and in the seven games since the Falcons' Week 10 bye, Gage had five games with at least 50 yards, four games with at least five catches and three games out of the last five with a touchdown. Gage settled in nicely in Atlanta's offense, with or without Julio Jones.
Fantasy Downside
While Gage will now be the WR2 in Atlanta, he will undoubtedly be no higher than third on the pecking order, maybe even fourth. TE Kyle Pitts will absolutely be featured in the offense and RB Mike Davis could also see targets out of the backfield. That will highly limit the fantasy potential for Gage, who only caught four touchdown passes last season.
2021 Bottom Line
Gage can still be a decent deep play as a WR4, maybe a WR3/Flex. But he won't see the target share to be a consistent, week-to-week option behind Ridley and Pitts (and perhaps even Davis).
