SEA QB Russell Wilson - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 at Pittsburgh
It was an efficient opener for Russell Wilson who only threw 20 passes for 190 yards. He did throw two touchdowns and did not turn the ball over. But those numbers were a far cry from what they have been in recent seasons.

Things won't get easier as they have to travel to Pittsburgh is ranked 12th in aFPA to quarterbacks after one week and considering that QB last week was Tom Brady, the Steelers pass defense should be decent this season.

Wilson only rates a QB2 for Week 2. Keep him on the bench. The Seahawks want to run first which explains the low pass attempts. That could be the trend this season which hurts Wilson's fantasy stock.

SEA QB Russell Wilson - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs Cincinnati
Although Russell Wilson's passing yards have been down the last two years compared to where he was in 2016, he set personal bests with completion percentage, touchdown passes and interceptions. Wilson has become a complete and efficient quarterback. He will have to deal with a slight shakeup with his receiving corps, but should be able to adjust without a drop off in numbers.

Wilson faces a Bengals defense that was 24th in aFPA to quarterbacks last year. He should be in a good spot at home to put up numbers that will place him in the top 10 for this week.

Start him as a solid QB1 for Week 1 and expect around 250 passing yards and a couple of touchdown passes. Cincinnati's pass defense is not expected to be much better in 2019.

SEA QB Russell Wilson - 2019 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
Russell Wilson has been one of the best fantasy quarterbacks over the past several seasons and the numbers back that up 100%. He threw for 3,448 yards and a career-high 35 touchdowns last season. He also started all 16 games and has not missed one in his seven-year career. Wilson also matched his career low with 7 picks and he has never had a losing season in Seattle. The veteran is about as good as it gets for reliability and consistency at the position.

Fantasy Downside
The Seahawks run the ball more than any other team in the NFL which is why Wilson’s passing numbers, except for touchdown passes, aren’t among the league leaders. He has actually cut back on his rushing attempts with a career-low last season. One of his strengths in fantasy was his running ability but that isn’t as much as a factor anymore.

2019 Bottom Line
A safe bet at quarterback is selecting Wilson. His ability to stay on the field and his overall passing numbers place him solidly as a QB1. We expect the numbers to fluctuate this season as his passing yardage will go up and his touchdown passes fall slightly. But he is definitely in the top 10 of fantasy quarterbacks and well worth a selection as early as the seventh round.

SEA QB Russell Wilson - Week 18 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 18 at Dallas Cowboys

Russell Wilson has been all over the map the second half of the season. The one thing to note is he has not had big passing games although ones that have been fantasy friendly. The success of the running game might be a big part of that.

Seattle faces the Cowboys who are 10th in aFPA to quarterbacks. We don't expect much difference in the playoffs. Wilson will be around the 200-250 mark with a score or two, but the running game will rule for the Seahawks. Wilson won't hurt you but there are several better options for Week 18.

SEA QB Russell Wilson - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. Arizona Cardinals

Russell Wilson has come up big the last two weeks throwing five touchdown passes without an interception and has pushed the Seahawks into the 2018 playoffs. Wilson is playing good football at the right time of the year and although there isn't much on the line this Sunday, we expect Seattle to play to win.

In the first meeting against the Cardinals, Wilson struggled and was held under 200 yards passing. But he is playing much better now and that leads him to a solid QB1 ranking for Week 17.

SEA QB Russell Wilson - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Kansas City Chiefs

After a bizarre Week 14 performance, Russell Wilson bounced back nicely last week with a 237 passing yard and two touchdown pass performance against the Niners. After going through a mid-season resurgence throwing the ball, Wilson and the Seahawks passing game has regressed so it was good to see him put some decent numbers up albeit it in a loss.

Wilson should have a big game this Sunday night as he faces the Kansas City defense that is ranked 31st in aFPA to quarterbacks. He seems to have healthy receivers for this game which has been an issue. Start Wilson as a top 5 fantasy quarterback for Week 16 in all leagues and formats.

SEA QB Russell Wilson - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at San Francisco 49ers

The passing game for Seattle has become secondary in recent weeks with QB Russell Wilson only throwing 37 passes over the last two games. Two weeks ago, it wasn't a big deal as he threw four touchdown passes, but last week he was awful throwing for only 72 yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception. He did run for 61 yards but that didn't make up for the passing day.

Maybe the Niners can help Wilson get out of his recent passing game slump. It was against San Francisco that he threw four touchdown passes and the Niners are ranked 28th in aFPA to quarterbacks. In his past six games against the 49ers, Wilson has thrown 12 touchdown passes and only one pick. We say start Wilson Week 15 as a low-end QB1 and the 'Hawks to get the passing game back in gear again.
