Scouting report

KC WR Sammy Watkins - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs. Patriots

Sammy Watkins saw a team-high eight targets last week, finishing 7-62. It's not a great standard league finish, but it's a pretty solid game in PPR formats as Watkins caught many short passes. Watkins struggled in Week 2, but he also played on fewer snaps that game. Watkins should be viewed in WR5 range this week in a decent matchup against the Patriots.

KC WR Sammy Watkins - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 at Los Angeles Chargers

Sammy Watkins was surprisingly dominant in Week 1 as he saw a team-high nine targets and converted it into a 7-82-1 night. Watkins was irrelevant in fantasy for the majority of 2019, but started to become productive in the postseason. So far it looks like he's continued that trend into 2020 and if he keeps it up, could become a really valuable fantasy asset moving forward. Watkins faces a Chargers defense this week he struggled against a year ago with 2-26 and 1-8 outings. Watkins was promising in Week 1, but in Week 2 he should be viewed more as a WR4 in a tough matchup.

KC WR Sammy Watkins - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs. Houston Texans

Sammy Watkins started 2019 with a monster 9-198-3 game, and then didn't do much after that, including not scoring a touchdown for the rest of the regular season. He bounced back in the playoffs, averaging 4.6-96-0.3 in three games played. We're expecting around a 3.7-43.6 game from him in Week 1 with a low chance of a score, making him a weak WR4 play.

KC WR Sammy Watkins - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. Los Angeles Chargers

Sammy Watkins had yet another disappointing game last week, finishing 2-28. He's averaging just 38 receiving yards per game since his Week 1 performance, and hasn't scored since then. If you want a receiver who's going to get you a few catches for less than 50 yards and no touchdowns, then Watkins is your ideal start.

KC WR Sammy Watkins - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Chicago Bears

Sammy Watkins finished 3-49 last week, and continued his touchdown drought. Watkins hasn't scored since his monster three-touchdown performance in Week 1. He hasn't even reached 70 yards since that 198-yard game. He's not much more than a desperation play, and should be viewed as a WR5 against Chicago.

KC WR Sammy Watkins - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. Denver Broncos

Sammy Watkins finished 4-50 last week and it was one of his more productive games this season. Still, Watkins hasn't shown much outside of his Week 1 performance. In fact, Watkins has barely matched that production total over the course of the whole year. In Week 1 he finished with 37.8 fantasy points in standard scoring, and from Week 2 through Week 14 he's had 38.2. He's not much more than a WR4 play against Denver.

KC WR Sammy Watkins - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 at New England Patriots

Sammy Watkins finished with zero receptions last week on three targets as his poor season continues. In standard scoring, Watkins scored more fantasy points in Week 1 than he has from Week 2 through Week 13. And to make matters worse, he'll face a Patriots defense this week who are allowing the fewest fantasy points to receivers. Watkins is hard to trust as a reliable option at this point in the season, especially against New England.
