Giants RB Saquon Barkley (knee) took limited practice reps Wednesday. He's likely to play this week, but his workload is a bit up in the air. There have been rumblings all summer that the Giants were planning to manage his workload. The coaching staff is on the hot seat, so it's possible that that plan is abandoned quickly.

Giants RB Saquon Barkley is gearing up to play Sunday vs. the Broncos, and sources say he’s close to being fully cleared to do so following major knee surgery. The team needs to watch him through Thursday to gauge how his body responds to the workload. But he’s close.

Fantasy Impact:

Certainly good news. Things have been positive as far as Barkley playing in Week 1 and being a full go. But reports all weekend continue to say the team will ease him back, and he may never get the workload he had before his knee injury. Booker could have a decent role in the offense, especially early on in the season. We'll see how hard it will be for the Giants to keep Barkley off the field more when fully healthy.

The Giants' expect Barkley to be suited up and ready to go for their Week 1 matchup against the Broncos, however there are concerns whether he will be able to handle a full workload to start the season.

Fantasy Impact:

Expect Devontae Booker to form a timeshare with Barkley in Week 1 as the Giants continue to ease Saquon back following last year's ACL injury. Dan Duggan reported that Barkley "might never return to playing 83 percent of snaps" as he saw in his first two seasons.

The tweet went on to say Barkley will need to get through a few more key practices before any decision is made. Barkley has been trending in the right direction since coming back to practice but his status for Week 1 is still up in the air for now. Booker looks like he stands to get a fantasy-worthy workload should Barkley not be available.
