Scouting report

CIN WR Tee Higgins - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs. Atlanta Falcons
Tee Higgins was back up to nine targets last week which produced six receptions for 47 yards. It was better than the week before when he was active and got zero targets because he sat in the second quarter and never came back in the game because of an ailing ankle. He was back to a full practice on Thursday which is encouraging.

The Falcons are up next and are ranked 29th in aFPA to wide receivers. We expect Higgins to start piling up numbers again now that his ankle isn't hindering his play.

With a very favorable a matchup and an offense that is finally starting to click again, start Higgins as a low-end WR1 for Week 7. That's saying something with his teammate Ja'Marr Chase also ranked a WR1, but we feel both will have big games this Sunday.

CIN WR Tee Higgins - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at New Orleans Saints
Although Tee Higgins was active last week, he ended up playing and then leaving the game early without a target because of a lingering ankle issue. The Bengals are keeping him out of practice to heal, but he is probably going to suit up and play this week as he was close enough to be dressed last week.

If he is active, he has a favorable matchup against a below-average pass defense. Start him as a high-end WR3 or Flex but keep an eye on the active list on game day.

CIN WR Tee Higgins - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Baltimore Ravens
Tee Higgins had his best game of the season with nine targets that produced seven receptions for 124 yards and a touchdown, his second of the season. This is the upside of Higgins. He can put up WR1 numbers on any given game day. He has that skill level. What holds him back is the Bengals have so many talented skill players, he can get lost.

The Bengals face the Ravens who are ranked 28th in aFPA to wide receivers. Higgins had a combined 29 targets in the two meetings last season and had the best game of his career in Week 16 against Baltimore, where he had 12 receptions for 194 yards and two touchdowns.

Start Higgins as a high-end WR2, but don't be surprised if he gives you WR1 numbers considering the opponent and the matchup. Cincy's passing game should have a big day. Just keep an eye on the injury list as Higgins has been limited with an ankle injury.

CIN WR Tee Higgins - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs. Miami Dolphins
Tee Higgins caught five passes for 95 yards in the Bengals' first win of the season. He has been banged up so far this season with a concussion and toe injury. However, he was a full participant in practice so far this week, so he should be in the lineup unless there is a setback.

The Dolphins are up next and have been good against opposing receivers so far in 2022, ranked 4th in aFPA to wide receivers. They were especially good against the Bills last Sunday.

Higgins should be in your starting lineup as a solid WR1. Last week was a good example that any of the Cincinnati receivers can be the top dog on any Sunday. Last week, it was Tyler Boyd. Higgins is always in that mix.

CIN WR Tee Higgins - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at New York Jets
After getting knocked out of the Steelers game, Tee Higgins returned last week with 10 targets for six receptions, 71 yards and a touchdown against Dallas. Higgins is capable of big games any week, even if he isn't the No. 1 receiver.

Higgins faces the Jets who are ranked 22nd in aFPA to wide receivers. Against New York in 2021, he had four receptions for 95 yards. Expect another big game against a below-average Jets defense.

Start Higgins as a high-end WR2 but don't be surprised if he eclipses that expectation. Sensing a big day for him and the Bengals offense getting back on track.

CIN WR Tee Higgins - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
Tee Higgins gets ignored sometimes because of the flash and numbers of Ja'Marr Chase. But Higgins put up great numbers in 2021 and is expected to repeat that performance in 2022. He actually had four games with double-digit targets and took over some games with his physical presence.

Higgins will face the Steelers who were ranked 15th in aFPA to wide receivers. He only played in 1 of the 2 meetings last season but caught 6 passes for 114 yards and a touchdown.

Start Higgins as a solid WR2 but the ceiling on any week could be higher depending on the way the game flows and the opposing defense decides to play the Bengals receivers. Higgins is projected to catch around 6 passes for 75 yards so expect that to be the minimum.

CIN WR Tee Higgins - 2022 Fantasy Football Outlook

2022 Fantasy Upside
Tee Higgins jumped up from his rookie season as he caught 74 passes for 1,091 yards and 6 touchdowns. The Bengals' passing offense is one of the best in the NFL and Higgins is a huge target for QB Joe Burrow. At one point in the second half of the season, Higgins was Cincy's leading receiver for a five-game stretch. He is capable of that any game.

2022 Fantasy Downside
With the emergence of Ja'Marr Chase last season, Higgins will probably never be the No. 1 receiver for Cincinnati. Burrow was able to spread the ball around and even though Higgins was the top receiver certain weeks, he also disappeared at times. He also missed two games last season due to injury.

2022 Bottom Line
Don't be fooled by Higgins being the No. 2 receiver for the Bengals. He ranks No. 13 overall which makes him a very strong WR2 headed into the season. If you want to grab Higgins, it will have to be in the third round because he won't last much longer. If he ends up your No. 1 receiver, it's not the end of the world, but his best role is to be your WR2 going into the 2022 season.
