Scouting report

STL RB Todd Gurley - Week 10, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. Chicago
Todd Gurley rushed 24 times for 89 yards and one touchdown in the Rams Week 9 loss to the Vikings. He also added three catches on five targets for an additional 20 yards. The Vikings stacked the box daring Nick Foles to beat them with his arm and he failed to do so. Future opponents will use the same blueprint until Foles and the Rams passing game proves it can be more efficient. That's concerning for Gurley's fantasy value although the rookie remains a legit RB1 regardless of the situation. He'll face fantasy's No. 6 defense versus running backs, but is our RB1 for Week 10. He's a must-start every week.

STL RB Todd Gurley - Week 9, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 at Minnesota
Todd Gurley rushed for 133 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries while also catching all three of his targets for an additional 13 yards in the Rams Week 8 win over the Niners. His touchdown run came on a 71-yard power play in which he raced untouched into the end zone. He leads the NFL in 40-plus yard runs and is a must-start in all fantasy formats. He ranks as our RB2 for Sunday's matchup against the Vikings, which will provide Gurley and the Rams with their biggest challenge since he took over as the starter.

STL RB Todd Gurley - Week 8, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs. San Francisco
Todd Gurley rushed 19 times for 128 yards and the first two touchdowns of his career in Week 7 as the Rams beat the Browns, 24-6. Gurley continues to torment defenses with his combination of power and speed. He has a knack for getting "skinny" through a hole and then bursting for big yardage once he gets into open space. Clearly his knee is fine, as he hurdled a Cleveland defender at one point during the game. While the Rams might be somewhat leery about his workload coming off ACL surgery, Gurley is the St. Louis offense, so the team has no choice but to lean on him moving forward. Gurley has now rushed for at least 100 yards in three-straight games and will face a 49ers defense that has issues tackling. Good luck with that, San Francisco. Gurley is our top back for Week 8.

STL RB Todd Gurley - Week 7, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs. Cleveland
Todd Gurley rushed 30 times for 159 yards in the Rams Week 5 loss to the Packers. He looked as if he was headed for his first score of his career, but was tripped up right before reaching pay-dirt. Gurley is everything the Rams expected he'd be coming out of Georgia and he's not even a full year removed from ACL surgery. He's a complete back, capable of being productive in the passing game as well. He's now entrenched as St. Louis' starting running back and is a legit RB1 in all fantasy formats. He ranks as our RB4 for Week 8 and has a great matchup against one of the league's worst run defenses (Cleveland) on Sunday.

STL RB Todd Gurley - Week 5, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Green Bay
Todd Gurley broke out for 146 yards on 19 carries, while also catches two passes for 15 yards in the Rams Week 4 upset of the Cardinals. Jeff Fisher said following the game the plan was for Gurley to split carries with Tre Mason, but at some point in the second half, the coaching staff decided to stick with Gurley and it paid off. The Rams offensive line played its best half of football this season while consistently maintaining double teams and working to the second level to wash out linebackers and safeties. Gurley did the rest while avoiding defenders, breaking tackles and flashing his combination of size and speed. After playing on 36-of-53 snaps, Gurley is a legit RB1 option moving forward and should be in your lineups for Week 5. He ranks as our RB10 for the Rams matchup with the Packers on Sunday.

STL RB Todd Gurley - Week 4, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at Arizona
Making his NFL debut, Todd Gurley rushed six times for nine yards and caught one pass for five yards in the Rams Week 3 loss to the Steelers. On his first carry, he didn't show enough patience while attempting to cutback on a stretch run. A crease eventually developed where the run was supposed to go but after he cut back, he wound up meeting a linebacker in a gap. On most of Gurley's other runs, he was suffocated by his own line. The Rams are starting two rookies, one second-year player in Greg Robinson, and an inexperienced center in Tim Barnes along their offensive line. That group has struggled mightily with the team's switch to a zone-blocking scheme and the backs are paying for it. At some point the Rams will hand the keys to the offense over to Gurley, but it's going to be a few weeks before he's ready to carry the ball 12-15 times a game. Be patient. Gurley ranks as our RB45 for Week 4 and should be avoided.

STL RB Todd Gurley - Week 3, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs. Pittsburgh
After being inactive on game day for the second straight week, Todd Gurley wasn't listed on the Rams injury report for Week 3. It would appear as though he'll make his NFL debut on Sunday versus the Steelers, who rank as fantasy's No. 10 defense against running backs. Tre Mason is likely to start, but Gurley may see 5-7 touches as the Rams slowly get him adjusted to the speed of the NFL. Fantasy owners should avoid playing him until St. Louis shows signs of turning the offense over to him, but it shouldn't be long now. Assuming the Rams young offensive line develops cohesion over these next few weeks, Gurley could become a weekly fantasy option in the second half of the season. He ranks as our RB47 for Week 3.
