Scouting report

KC TE Travis Kelce - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at Atlanta Falcons

Just one catch for five yards in Week 2 for Travis Kelce. He also has just seven targets through two games. That said, with Isiah Pacheco on injured reserve, Kelce may be more involved again over the next few weeks, starting Sunday against the Falcons, who have allowed 11 receptions through two games to tight ends. That should be a positive for Kelce, right?

KC TE Travis Kelce - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Travis Kelce had just three catches for 34 yards against the Ravens in Week 1. Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy were more of a focal point on offense. That said, Kelce can make a big play at any time and he still has Patrick Mahomes throwing him the football. That helps give him continued upside for fantasy purposes. He remains a starting option.

KC TE Travis Kelce - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs. Baltimore Ravens

One Kelce brother retired this offseason but Travis is still going and still going at a strong level -- Jason was as well before retiring. Kelce finished with 984 yards receiving last season and, while he is slowing down a bit at age 35, he's still showing he's going to be one of the top options for Patrick Mahomes yet again. Even against a tough Ravens defense, Kelce will be peppered with targets as usual. And with Xavier Worthy in the mix to take the top off the Ravens' defense, Kelce should have more room to operate. He's going to remain a top tight end option until further notice.

KC TE Travis Kelce - 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside

Travis Kelce had a "down" year and he still finished as TE2 in fantasy. He's just that good. Is he the force he once was? No, age is catching up to him a little bit (Kelce is 35 in October). But he posted almost 1,000 yards last season and that was with the offense as a whole being down. The group should pick back up with the additions of Hollywood Brown and Xavier Worthy, which should make life a little easier for Kelce.

Fantasy Downside

As mentioned before, Kelce will be 35 years old in October and is coming off one of the lowest statistical outputs of his career, including lows in yards per reception (10.6) and yards per target (8.1). His days as the top dog among fantasy tight ends may be coming to an end.

2024 Bottom Line

Kelce may not be the top tight end, but we still have him at No. 2, only behind Sam LaPorta. Kelce is still a top-notch option at the top of drafts. His fantasy work is still in good "Style" and shouldn't leave you with any "Bad Blood".

KC TE Travis Kelce - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Travis Kelce fell short of projections last week, catching five passes for 44 yards on seven targets. Kelce seemed off in Week 16 as he had a few bobbled passes as well as a moment where he threw his helmet to the ground in frustration. Kelce hasn't been quite as dominant lately, finishing below 50 yards in four of his last seven games, with just one touchdown in that span as well. Still, the 50-yard threshold we set is still a high bar for most TEs these days. Kelce will remain a must-start option at TE in Week 17 in a favorable matchup vs. the Bengals (31st aFPA).

KC TE Travis Kelce - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Las Vegas Raiders

Bill Belichick found a way to shut Travis Kelce down last week as the Chiefs tight end finished with five receptions for 28 yards. Before last week, Kelce had three straight games with 80+ receiving yards, so owners who survived Kelce's dud can likely rely on him in Week 16. Expect Kelce to bounce back vs. the Raiders (5th aFPA) even though it's a tough matchup. When Kelce faced Las Vegas just a few weeks ago he finished 6-91. He's a must-start TE1 in Week 16.

KC TE Travis Kelce - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at New England Patriots

Travis Kelce was tied with Rashee Rice for the team lead in targets last week, finishing with 10. He turned those targets into production with a solid stat line of 6-83. Kelce has finished with at least 80 yards in three straight games after he he a slight slump with his yardage production. Kelce hasn't been as strong of a redzone threat lately, catching one touchdown in his last six games. But Kelce routinely gets plenty of targets, and has the highest ceiling of any tight end right now. He doesn't get a great matchup this week against the Patriots (12th aFPA), but he's still a must-start option at TE.
