Scouting report

ARI TE Trey McBride - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs. Los Angeles Rams

Trey McBride continued his impressive breakout campaign last week with 43 yards on five catches. He was targeted seven times - second-highest on the team - and has 16 total targets in two games with Kyler Murray under center. With that kind of attention, he’s bound to find the end zone again, which has been his one downside so far this season - only one on the year.

This week, McBride faces a Rams defense that ranks 30th in aFPA to opposing tight ends. While they’ve been stingy against backs and receivers, tight ends have been the way to defeat this Los Angeles defense, and expect McBride to take full advantage of that. Expect another busy day from the second-year tight end, and we have him ranked as an elite fantasy option for Week 12.

ARI TE Trey McBride - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 at Houston Texans

Trey McBride had a great game last week in a victory over the Falcons. He caught eight of his nine targets for 131 yards. It was great to see him lead the team in targets in Kyler Murray’s return from injury, and if he isn’t rostered in your leagues, he should be a hot pickup now.

This week, McBride has a great matchup against a Houston defense that ranks 30th in aFPA to opposing tight ends. With a vulnerable opponent and a healthy quarterback, the sky's the limit for the former second-round pick out of Colorado State, and we have him ranked as a solid starting TE1 in all fantasy leagues this week. Start him.

ARI TE Trey McBride - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. Atlanta Falcons

Trey McBride caught three of his five targets for 22 yards in a lopsided loss to the Browns last week. McBride was coming off a huge performance against the Ravens the previous week, but it’s hard to fault him for failing to produce against a tough Cleveland defense with Clayton Tune at quarterback. Better days should be ahead of the sophomore.

This week, McBride faces an Atlanta defense that ranks 22nd in aFPA to opposing tight ends. McBride also is expected to get Kyler Murray back at quarterback. A better matchup and a huge quarterback upgrade should put McBride back in starter territory, and we have him ranked just inside our 10 best tight end options for this week.

ARI TE Trey McBride - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 at Cleveland Browns

Hello Trey McBride! McBride wasted no time filling in for the injured Zach Ertz, catching 10 of 14 targets for 95 yards and a touchdown in a loss to the Ravens last week. McBride showed exactly the kind of receiving chops that made him a second round pick out of Colorado State last year. Tight ends usually take a little time to blossom into fantasy assets, and we might be seeing the start of it for McBride.

This week, he’ll face a tough Cleveland defense that ranks second in aFPA to opposing tight ends. With a dearth of options at the position, he’s worth starting in most leagues, but it’s concerning that he’ll face a tough matchup with a new quarterback. Start him, and hold your breath.

ARI TE Trey McBride - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs. Baltimore Ravens

Trey McBride had three catches for 29 yards last week in a loss to the Seahawks. However, he was targeted six times and Zach Erz is now on IR. McBride has a tough matchup against the Ravens this week, but he’s worth adding to rosters now in case he can lock down a bigger role in Ertz’s absence. He’s too risky to bank on in most leagues this week, but he’s an interesting long-term option.

ARI TE Trey McBride - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. New England Patriots

Trey McBride caught just one of three targets for one yard against the Chargers before the bye last week. This was despite seeing 79% of the team’s offensive snaps. McBride’s production just isn’t there yet. Despite a decent matchup against the Patriots, who rank 19th in aFPA to opposing tight ends, McBride is way too risky to trust in fantasy lineups. Sit him.

ARI TE Trey McBride - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs. Los Angeles Chargers

Trey McBride caught all four of his targets last week against the 49ers, although he gained only 14 yards. McBride has upside as the starter in Arizona with Zach Ertz out for the remainder of the season, but until we see actual production, it’s hard to trust him. He has an average matchup this week against the Chargers, who rank 15th in aFPA to opposing tight ends, but continue to take a wait-and-see approach with him, especially with Marquise Brown possibly back in the fold. We have him ranked well outside TE1 territory this week.
