Scouting report

NYJ RB Ty Johnson - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. Indianapolis
Ty Johnson had a healthy 10 touches on Sunday as a backup to No. 1 back Michael Carter. The results were good, especially in PPR leagues. He had 86 total yards and a touchdown and although the rushes weren't there (only 4), the involvement in the passing game was.

Johnson faces the Colts who are ranked 4th in aFPA to running backs and because of the tough matchup, he still should remain on the bench for Week 9. But if he continues to get around 10 touches, he could end up being a factor as an RB3 or flex down the road.

NYJ RB Ty Johnson - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at New England
Ty Johnson is now the clear backup for rookie Michael Carter. He is ahead of veteran Tevin Coleman and should get 5-8 touches on Sunday. Not enough to put him on the fantasy map for Week 7. Keep Johnson on the waiver wire.

NYJ RB Ty Johnson - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at Denver
The mystery at running back for the Jets continues. Ty Johnson led the way in Week 2 with 12 rushes for 50 yards for New York. Michael Carter got 11 carries and veteran Tevin Coleman was the low man on the totem pole. Johnson should get his share of carries again although Carter should end up with more touches because of his use in the passing game.

The Jets hit the road as Johnson will face Denver who was ranked 21st in aFPA to running backs last year. He should get his share of carries but the Jets' skill players aren't quite there yet. Keep Johnson on the bench for Week 3.

NYJ RB Ty Johnson - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at New England

With Frank Gore out for the season finale, Ty Johnson will get the start. He has shown he can do the job when he carried the ball 22 times for 104 yards against the Raiders back in Week 13. Expect Johnson to get the majority of the playing time at running back.

Johnson faces the Patriots who are ranked 27th in aFPA to running backs. New England is a mess right now and we expect the Jets to be able to generate some offense.

Start Johnson as a high-end RB3 or flex for Week 17. The Jets showed they trust him and 20 touches is very probable. That should be enough to get some decent fantasy numbers.

NYJ RB Ty Johnson - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs. Miami
Ty Johnson moves into the backup spot behind Frank Gore because of the injury to La'Mical Perine. Johnson only has six carries on the season, but should see some spot duty for New York.

The Dolphins are coming to visit and don't have the best run defense, so the matchup is favorable for the Jets. Johnson should be on your fantasy radar for Week 12, but not in your lineup. The Jets will use mostly Gore and the 5-8 touches for Johnson won't be enough to have a fantasy impact.

DET RB Ty Johnson - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 Denver Broncos
With Bo Scarbrough out last week it was Wes Hills who got the start at RB for Detroit, not J.D. McKissic or Ty Johnson. The Lions have used six different starters at the position this season and are expecting Scarbrough to return on Sunday. Also, it's possible Kerryon Johnson will be activated from IR, further moving Ty Johnson down the depth chart. There are just too many cooks in the kitchen for you to even think about starting the rookie.

DET RB Ty Johnson - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
In the loss against the Vikings last week Ty Johnson saw just two carries for three yards and a seven-yard reception. With the emergence of Bo Scarbrough and Kerryon Johnson possibly returning in Week 16, Ty Johnson holds very little fantasy value.
