Scouting report

MIN TE Tyler Conklin - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs. Cowboys

Conklin is firmly on the streaming radar against a Cowboys defense that ranks 21st in aFPA to tight ends. Conklin has put up five or more targets in three of his last four games. He's racked up four red-zone targets this season, which ranks third on the team. If you need a tight end this week, Conklin looks like a solid option.

MIN TE Tyler Conklin - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs. Lions

Conklin has finished as TE21, TE35, TE2, and TE30 this season, establishing himself as a viable tight end streamer on a weekly basis. Conklin has put up a 14.4% target share with three red zone targets, so he has a chance to provide TE1 production in more pass-heavy game scripts.

Conklin goes up against a Lions defense that ranks 26th in aFPA, so this is a plus matchup for Conklin. The risk of losing volume to a run-heavy game script is higher for Conklin than it is for Jefferson and Thielen, but tight end is such a weak position that we need to consider Conklin.

MIN TE Tyler Conklin - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs. Browns

Conklin is coming off a big game against the Seahawks where he caught 7-of-8 targets for 70 yards and a touchdown. He's established himself as the top tight end in this offense, which was debatable coming into the season with the team trading for Chris Herndon. Conklin is dominating snap share with 73.97%. He's become a solid streamer at tight end going forward.

Conklin goes up against a Browns defense that ranks 9th in aFPA against tight ends, but this is a good spot in a projected shootout. The risk here is that Conklin is questionable for this game, having missed Wednesday's practice. Keep an eye on his status for this game. If he plays, we can fire him up as a streamer.

MIN TE Tyler Conklin - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs. Seahawks

Conklin is dominating usage among Vikings' tight ends, leading the position with a 75% snap rate and 10.13% target share. While it's hard to get too excited about a player who's caught 6-of-8 targets for 56 yards, you have to like the fact that he's taken over as the team's main tight end. Conklin can be considered a deep streamer this week, especially in a projected shootout as we have here against the Seahawks.

MIN TE Tyler Conklin - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 @ Cardinals
Conklin led the way for Vikings' tight ends, catching all four of his targets for 41 yards. He played over 71% of the snaps with an 8.51% target share, while newcomer Chris Herndon was limited to only 14% of the snaps with a 4.14% target share. It's clear that Conklin is the preferred option in this group, at least for the time being while Herndon acclimates to the new offense.

Conklin takes on a Cardinals defense that ranked 10th in aFPA to tight ends last season, so this is a tough matchup. Linebackers Zaven Collins and Isaiah Simmons are among the most athletic in the NFL, making life difficult for opposing tight ends to do damage. The one thing that Conklin has going for him in this game is that it's a projected shootout, so we could see him fall into the endzone.
