NO K Wil Lutz - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs. Buccaneers

Some weeks you don't need to do much of anything as a kicker and some weeks you need to carry the load. Week 4 was the latter for Lutz as he did all the scoring for the Saints, kicking four field goals, including a pair from at least 40 yards out. And in what could be a shootout against the Buccaneers, Lutz is potentially going to be relied on quite a bit, meaning plenty of chances for points.

NO K Wil Lutz - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs. Cowboys

Interestingly enough, Wil Lutz did not attempt a single field goal against the Seahawks and also missed an extra point. In fantasy terms, it wasn't the finest day at the office for Lutz and shows how volatile kickers can be. That said, Lutz is back in the friendly confines of Mercedes-Benz Stadium and will likely be relied upon at some point for a key field goal. Last week should end up as just a minor speed bump in Lutz's season.

NO K Wil Lutz - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at Seahawks

Another day at the office for Wil Lutz against the Rams. He was the only one to operate the scoreboard for the Saints, scoring all nine points the Saints finished with in Week 2, going 3/3 Sunday, including a 52-yard field goal, and is now 7/8 on the season. He continues to be one of the few kickers you can set in your lineup and not have to move until their bye week (in this case, Week 9).

NO K Wil Lutz - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 at Rams

Another game, another fine performance for Wil Lutz. He did miss a field goal against the Texans, but he came up big when needed, booting a 58-yard field goal with just two seconds left to win the game for New Orleans. Expect a few more kicks for Lutz Sunday against the Rams, as he is a top option at kicker yet again.

NO K Wil Lutz - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs Texans

There aren't many kickers in fantasy football that are plug and play options and that you can feel confident in. Wil Lutz is one of them. The Saints are going to score plenty of points on Monday night and a few of them are going to come from the foot of Lutz. He's our No. 2 kicker this week and he very well could be the top-scoring kicker when the week is over.

NO K Wil Lutz - 2019 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
Will Lutz was one of the most reliable kickers in the league in 2018. He made over 93% of his kicks, missing only two field goals and just one extra point last season. He also continues to enjoy being a part of one of the top offenses in the league that is always a threat to either score six or put Lutz in position to give them three points.

Fantasy Downside
Lutz has a history of missing long field goals. Six of his 13 career misses have been from at least 50 yards, though he was 2 for 3 from that distance in 2018. If you have penalties for misses, it wouldn't hurt to see the Saints be deeper in opponents' territory when bringing out the field goal unit. Other than that, not much to not like about Lutz.

Bottom Line
Lutz was tied for third in fantasy scoring among kickers in 2018 and has Drew Brees as his quarterback. Lutz is one of the few kickers that you don't have to worry about streaming. He's a top option at the position. You just need to worry about finding a kicker in Week 9, when the Saints have their bye week.
