Fantasy Upside
Fuller was a story of both high-end production and injuries last season. He had a broken collarbone and a knee injury during the season. He had arthroscopic surgery on the knee in January. But Fuller also caught seven touchdowns and completely clicked with Deshaun Watson before the quarterback got hurt. How productive was he? Fuller caught a touchdown for every 7.1 targets in 2017.
According to FantasyPros, that's the smallest number (with a minimum of 30 targets) since James Jones caught one every 7.0 targets in 2012. No surprise that teammate DeAndre Hopkins told reporters "the sky's the limit" for Fuller if the latter can stay healthy in 2018. "I think he's going to have the best season."
Fantasy Downside
The knock on Fuller coming out of college was questionable hands. For his part, Watson isn't worried. "[Fuller's] a playmaker," the QB said. "[He] finds ways to get open. He's a deep threat, he has a lot of speed and he's very, very smart, so he knows the feel of this offense and what we're looking for." Also, as CBSSports.com suggested, Fuller's skill set may always lend itself to large fantasy fluctuations on a week-to-week basis.
2018 Bottom Line
That said, there's no denying the connection between the QB and wideout and Fuller should have better luck avoiding the prolonged slumps if both he and Watson manage to stay healthy for the year. Given the upside we all saw with our own eyes last season, Fuller is a reasonable value at his current ranking.
