Scouting report

BAL WR Willie Snead - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. New England Patriots

Willie Snead struggled against the Seahawks before the bye last week. He finished with one rush for two yards, zero receptions and only one target. Snead had been targeted at least five times in three of his previous four games, however, and he continues to have a role in the Ravens’ offense. His snap count has been the most consistent among Baltimore wide receivers, leading the team with 67% on the season. Still, his lack of production and his role in an offense that emphasizes the run makes it hard to trust him in most leagues. He has some value as an end-of-the-bench guy in large best ball formats, but probably isn’t worth considering in a starting lineup in most leagues.

BAL WR Willie Snead - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Seattle Seahawks

Willie Snead led the team in snaps over the past two games with Marquise Brown nicked up, but he was unable to fully take advantage against the Bengals last week, catching just three of the five balls thrown his way for 18 yards. Snead is third on the team with 15 catches and 223 receiving yards this season, but that’s simply not enough production to warrant serious fantasy consideration, especially with Brown expected to be back this week. Snead should be on the fantasy roster bubble in all leagues.

BAL WR Willie Snead - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Willie Snead hasn’t put up big numbers this year by any means, but there’s some optimism for him in super deep leagues. He leads the Baltimore receiving corps in snaps and has averaged 53 yards per game over his past three outings. He caught four of the five balls thrown his way last week against the Steelers and he seems to have a nice rapport with quarterback Lamar Jackson. Snead is too risky to trust in the vast majority of leagues, but in deeper formats, including best ball, Snead could have some low-end value on the back end of a roster.

Update: With Marquise Brown out this week, Snead could step into additional targets and could be the primary downfield option for the Ravens. He's worth a dart throw as a WR3 in deep leagues.

BAL WR Willie Snead - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Pittsburgh Steelers

Willie Snead was only targeted twice last week against the Browns, but he caught both passes for 61 yards and a touchdown. Snead has been inconsistent in production, but he actually leads Baltimore receivers in snaps so far this season and he’s caught two touchdowns in four games. He’s only valuable in super deep leagues and best-ball formats, but he’s an interesting desperation option for fantasy owners looking for touchdown-or-bust production. Most leagues, he should remain on waivers, however.

BAL WR Willie Snead - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs. Cleveland Browns

Willie Snead caught three of the five balls sent his way last week against the Chiefs for 47 yards. He has a role in the offense and he’ll likely have the occasional touchdown, but the team seems to favor rookie Marquise Brown as a deep target, and quarterback Lamar Jackson looked for tight ends or running backs on 26 of his 43 pass attempts in Week 3. That doesn’t leave a lot of action for the third receiver in the offense and he’s too risky to consider using in most leagues. He should remain on waivers.

BAL WR Willie Snead - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at Kansas City Chiefs

Willie Snead was only targeted once last week against the Cardinals after catching a touchdown in Week 1. Expect the rest of the season to be more like Week 2, with the Ravens rarely throwing often enough to get Snead consistent work. He has talent and big-play ability, but his targets are unlikely to be high enough on a week-to-week basis to warrant rostering him. He has a nice matchup against the Chiefs this week, but is too risky in most leagues. He’s not a bad end-of-bench flyer in best-ball leagues, but shouldn’t be active in other formats.

BAL WR Willie Snead - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. Arizona Cardinals

Willie Snead had 41 yards and a touchdown in a blowout victory over the Dolphins last week. While those are nice numbers, he was only targeted three times on the day, catching two. Snead had a nice rapport with Lamar Jackson a year ago, but with the tight end position taking up 15 targets against the Dolphins and 46 rushing attempts in the game, it’s difficult to trust him. We still need to see more from this offense to get a true feel for how valuable the receivers are going to be.
