Scouting report

PHI TE Zach Ertz - Week 9, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 at Dallas
Zach Ertz has proclaimed himself healthy following a core injury in the preseason. Ertz is coming off his best statistical game of the season last week with five catches for 63 yards on eight targets. This week, he has a tough matchup against the Cowboys, who are fifth in allowing fantasy points to TEs. Ertz can't be trusted as anything more than a TE2 play, but he's a guy to watch if you need help at the position. If he is back to 100 percent, he should start to get more involved in the offense.

PHI TE Zach Ertz - Week 7, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Carolina
Zach Ertz caught four balls for 43 yards last week on seven targets. He has nine catches for 103 yards on 14 targets over the past two weeks. The Eagles are using him more (season-high 86 percent of snaps in Week 6), but he hasn't put up the breakout game we thought we'd see by now. This week it's the Panthers in a decent matchup as Carolina is 13th in fantasy allowed points to TEs. Ertz is more of a lower-end TE2 play and should probably be avoided in typical leagues.

PHI TE Zach Ertz - Week 6, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs Dallas
Zach Ertz had a season-high five catches for 60 yards on seven targets last week, as the Eagles went to more two-TE sets and it seemed to ignite the offense. Brent Celek was on the receiving end of a TD however. Still, Ertz comes in as a high-end TE2 option this week and may be trending in the right direction after a slow start, while also battling a core injury. It's a great matchup this week as the G-men are 30th in allowing fantasy points to TEs so the Eagles may again use two TEs as part of their game plan. Ertz has a chance to out-perform his ranking this week.

PHI TE Zach Ertz - Week 5, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs. New Orleans
Zach Ertz caught just two balls for 11 yards last week on three targets. It hasn't been a good year, again, for those who thought Ertz would have a big fantasy season, as he's just not getting targeted. He could still be dealing with the core body injury, but the poor play of the offensive line is another factor limiting his snaps, as he's given way to Brent Celek, who is a much better blocker. Ertz has a nice matchup this week as the Saints are 30th in allowing fantasy points to TEs, but he's just an average TE2 option in our rankings and should probably be avoided.

PHI TE Zach Ertz - Week 4, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at Washington
Zach Ertz caught just two balls for 30 yards last week and was only targeted twice. It's been a tough go for Ertz so far this season, but chances are pretty good he's not 100-percent after his core body injury in preseason. As a result, Ertz is way down our list at the position in what is just an OK matchup against Washington (which ranks 13th in allowing fantasy points to the position). You may want to stick with another option until Ertz starts to show he's back to form along with the rest of the passing game.

PHI TE Zach Ertz - Week 3, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at New York Jets
Zach Ertz caught just three balls for 17 yards on seven targets in Week 2. So far, he has just six catches on 15 targets so he's not connecting with QB Sam Brandford, who looks like he's trying to get him the ball. Ertz missed a lot of time during training camp with a core injury, which could be the reason they aren't on the same page. Ertz had a great matchup last week and it's another good one this week, but the offense isn't playing well and Ertz may not be 100-percent after his injury. As a result, he's ranked as a middle-of-the road TE2 option this week so you may want to think about another option until we see more.

PHI TE Zach Ertz - Week 2, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. Dallas

Zach Ertz had three catches for 46 yards on eight targets in Week 1. He had a big play called back on a penalty, so his final numbers aren't as impressive as he looked in Week 1. He was also a question mark recovering from a core injury, but should be good going forward.

Ertz has a really nice matchup in Week 2 as the Cowboys are 26th in fantasy points allowed to TEs. Ertz ranks more like a TE2 this week and it is actually still hard to tell how much he'll be involved in the offense week-to-week. In a closer game, Ertz may lose some time to Brent Celek as the 24-year-old continues to struggle as a blocker.
