Scouting report

JAX WR Zay Jones - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. Las Vegas Raiders

Zay Jones put in another meh performance for the Jaguars against the Broncos in Week 8. He saw three targets, catching them all for 28 yards, and carried the ball once for just seven yards. Jones notched 5.0 Half PPR points and finished as the WR58.

Jones has done precious little to make him a player that fantasy managers need to be rostering, let alone starting. Even his revenge game against the Raiders, who ranked 26th in aFPA to wide receivers, does not make him a viable option in Week 9.

JAX WR Zay Jones - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs. Denver Broncos (London)

Week 7 was another uninspiring fantasy outing for Zay Jones and his fantasy managers. He saw ten targets but caught just four balls for 54 scoreless yards. Jones hasn't scored a touchdown since Week 3, He scored 8.8 Half-PPR points against the Giants and finished the week as the WR33 in that format. For the season, Jones is the WR45.

Fantasy managers with Jones on their roster shouldn't be too hopeful of a boom week coming in Week 8 against the Broncos. No team is allowing fewer aFPA to wide receivers this season than the Broncos. They've surrendered the second-fewest receiving yards to wide receivers in 2022 and a single wide receiver touchdown. He's a desperation WR4 option this week.

JAX WR Zay Jones - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs New York Giants

Zay Jones enjoyed a fairly efficient outing against the Colts in Week 6, although not one that overly excited his fantasy managers. Jones caught all five of his targets for 42 yards but did not find the end zone. Jones managed 6.7 Half PPR points and finished as the WR44.

The Giants rank 12th in aFPA to wide receivers this year, meaning Jones is not likely to go off against them. Still, a top-36 outing should be on the cards, and Jones can be projected for as much.

JAX WR Zay Jones - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at Indianapolis Colts

Week 5 was a strong "burn the tape" type outing for Zay Jones. He saw eight targets against the Texans, his third game this season with at least eight looks, and caught three balls as he has done in every game he has played. His three grabs amassed just 12 yards, however. Jones scored a dismal 2.7 Half-PPR points and finished as the WR83 in Week 5.

Jones will look to bounce back against the Colts in Week 6, though on paper it's not a great matchup. The Colts are ranked ninth in aFPA to wide receivers in 2022, and Jones was only able to take 23 yards on three receptions off them back in Week 2. Jones is not someone you need to be starting in Week 6 and projects as a WR5 in Half PPR formats.

JAX WR Zay Jones - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at Philadelphia Eagles

Going into Week 3, Zay Jones had nine receptions for 88 yards in 2022. In Week 3, he caught 10 of his 11 targets for 85 yards and his first touchdown as a Jaguar, finishing with 19.5 Half-PPR points. Jones was the WR5 in that format. In 2022, Jones is second on the team with a 22.2% target share, but he has just 32.8 Half-PPR points, good for the WR31.

On paper, it would seem that Jones will struggle to replicate his Week 3 form against the Eagles in Week 4. They rank No.1 in aFPA to wide receivers this season. One spike week aside, it's hard to safely rank him as anything above a WR5 in Week 4.

JAX WR Zay Jones - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. Indianapolis Colts

It came as something of a surprise that Zay Jones and not Marvin Jones was the Robin to Christian Kirk's Batman in the Jaguars passing game in Week 1. Zay drew nine targets, catching six for 65 scoreless yards and 9.5 fantasy points in Half PPR formats. He finished as the WR35 for the week.

The Colts allowed the Texans wide receivers to combine for 12 receptions and 139 yards last week, but managed to hold them out of the end zone. Jones is not a player should be banking too heavily on in fantasy this week, even if he is in for a somewhat bigger role than originally thought. He's a low-end WR5 this week.

LV WR Zay Jones - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at Indianapolis Colts

Zay Jones caught six balls for 50 yards last week against the Broncos and has quietly had at least five receptions in four of his past five games and has 17 targets over his last two. That gives him some deep-league PPR value, but he’s still not producing enough points to warrant serious fantasy consideration in most leagues. Sit him in a tough matchup against a Colts defense that ranks sixth in aFPA to opposing wide receivers.
