Scouting report

MIA RB Salvon Ahmed - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Philadelphia Eagles

Salvon Ahmed saw some decent usage last week with Jeff Wilson Jr. still being inactive. Ahmed ran six times for 23 yards and a touchdown. But he also saw five targets out of the backfield, finishing with three catches for 11 yards. Wilson's status will be worth monitoring this week because that will impact Ahmed's value. If Wilson plays, it'll likely end up being a committee. If Wilson is out, Ahmed should be viewed as a risky RB3/flex option given a tough matchup vs. the Eagles (6th aFPA).

MIA RB Salvon Ahmed - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. Carolina Panthers

Before suffering an injury, Salvon Ahmed was seeing decent playing time in the first two weeks, playing on 28% and 19% of the team's offensive snaps. But then rookie De'Von Achane blew up and Ahmed wasn't really needed. Achane has been placed on injured reserve now, but Jeff Wilson is expected back off of IR so Ahmed is still at RB3 assuming Wilson is active. If Wilson plays this week, then Ahmed can be forgotten about. But if Wilson is inactive, then Ahmed becomes interesting in a favorable matchup vs. the Panthers (30th aFPA). If Wilson can't play, Ahmed can be viewed as a low-end RB3 option in Week 6.

MIA RB Salvon Ahmed - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 at New England Patriots

Salvon Ahmed didn't do much in Week 1. He ran three times for 11 yards, and saw three targets but didn't have a single catch. He played on 28% of the snaps, which is OK but it's clear this is Raheem Mostert's backfield. Ahmed will continue to be the RB2 in this offense with Jeff Wilson and Devon Achane out, but he needs to see more touches before he becomes relevant in fantasy. We'd avoid him in Week 2.

MIA RB Salvon Ahmed - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 at Los Angeles Chargers

With Jeff Wilson on IR to start the season, we're expecting Salvon Ahmed to play backup to Raheem Mostert on the Dolphins. Rookie Devon Achane should also be in the mix, but it's tough to tell in this early season just how Miami plans to utilize their backs. Given this confusion, it's probably best to stay away from Ahmed in Week 1 unless you're in a really deep league.

MIA RB Salvon Ahmed - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 at New York Jets

Salvon Ahmed's playing time has decreased slowly over the past four games, which is odd considering Malcolm Brown's injury. In Week 10, Ahmed was actually out-snapped by Patrick Laird. Ahmed isn't on the field enough to warrant fantasy consideration, despite a favorable matchup in Week 11 vs. the Jets.

MIA RB Salvon Ahmed - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. Baltimore Ravens

Salvon Ahmed saw decreased playing time and fewer touches last week, which is a bad sign considering Malcolm Brown is still sidelined. Ahmed played on just 19% of the offensive snaps, and carried the ball four times for just six yards while seeing no targets as a receiver. Ahmed is simply not productive enough to warrant fantasy consideration.

MIA RB Salvon Ahmed - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 at Buffalo Bills

Salvon Ahmed finished with a season-high nine touches last week as he benefitted from Malcolm Brown's injury. Ahmed will likely have a better role as Brown was placed on IR, but it's hard to imagine him having a big enough role to warrant playing him in fantasy. Myles Gaskin is the back to own in Miami while Ahmed will likely have fewer than 10 touches.
