BAL WR Rashod Bateman - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 at Cleveland Browns

Rashod Bateman is trending in the wrong direction, and he got a giant goose egg last week against the Steelers, with zero receptions and only one target. Bateman flashes WR1 potential at times, but this offense doesn’t seem like it can support him from a fantasy perspective. He remains a speculative add at this point, with too much risk to insert him into fantasy lineups. Sit him.

Week 13 at Pittsburgh Steelers

Rashod Bateman is an exciting prospect but hasn’t been producing fantasy points yet. Last week, he caught all four balls thrown his way, but only gained 31 yards. He may have a bright future ahead of him, and he has a great matchup this week against the Steelers, but it’s hard to trust him in lineups at this point. We have him ranked as a fringe WR3 option and fantasy managers might want to take a wait-and-see approach to him. For now at least, the Ravens don’t seem capable of sustaining more than two fantasy pass-catchers, and those spots are currently occupied by Mark Andrews and Marquise Brown.

BAL WR Rashod Bateman - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs. Cleveland Browns

Rashod Bateman continues to put up middling production, despite ample targets. Last week, he was held to just 29 yards on three receptions and six targets, although much of that may be attributed to Tyler Huntley starting at quarterback. Still, Bateman’s getting nearly seven targets per game and has yet to eclipse 100 yards receiving or find the end zone. Fantasy managers will need some points scored at some point if they’re going to continue trotting him out.

This week, Bateman faces a Browns defense that ranks 16th in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. Watch the status of Lamar Jackson, who should be back after being a late scratch last week. If Jackson starts, Bateman is a WR3 option. If Jackson starts and Hollywood Brown is out again, he becomes an interesting risk-reward WR2 option.

BAL WR Rashod Bateman - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 at Chicago Bears

Rashod Bateman hasn’t found the end zone or eclipsed 100 yards receiving in any of his four games, but he’s getting targets and making impressive plays, providing upside and hope for fantasy managers who have rostered him all season. Bateman caught six balls for 80 yards against the Dolphins, and he now has eight targets in each of his past two games and no fewer than six in any game he’s been active.

This week, Bateman faces a Bears defense that ranks 25th in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. It might be time to activate Bateman as a solid WR3 or flex option in a nice matchup.

Update: With Marquise Brown out, move Rashod Bateman up to WR2 status. However, monitor the health of Lamar Jackson, who may miss the game due to illness.

BAL WR Rashod Bateman - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 at Miami Dolphins

Rashod Bateman hasn’t had a real breakout performance yet, but he’s been a presence in the Baltimore offense in each of his three starts. Last week, he caught five balls for 52 yards but had eight targets. He now has 20 targets in three games and has seen at least 63% of the team’s offensive snaps in every game so far.

This week, Bateman faces a Dolphins defense that ranks 29th in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. The Dolphins have struggled with injuries and inconsistency in their secondary, so the opportunity is there for Bateman to produce. That being said, it’s always risky to bank on the Ravens supporting more than one fantasy receiver, and Marquise Brown is definitely the primary wide receiver in Baltimore. As such, Bateman should be considered a viable WR3 option, with some risk-reward potential.

BAL WR Rashod Bateman - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. Minnesota Vikings

Rashod Bateman had a nice game against the Bengals before the bye last week, catching three of six targets for 80 yards. Bateman has six targets in each of his first two starts and should be an active part of the offense moving forward. Against the Bengals, he showed major flashes of the first-round talent we all loved heading into April’s draft.

This week, Bateman faces a Vikings defense that ranks 27th in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. Bateman is a bit risky because Marquise Brown is the primary target and the Ravens haven’t shown they can consistently support multiple fantasy wide receivers in the Lamar Jackson era, but if you’re looking for a WR3 with upside, Bateman’s talent and a good matchup make him worth considering in deeper leagues.

BAL WR Rashod Bateman - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Rashod Bateman only had 29 yards in his debut performance, but he was tied for the team-high with six targets and caught four balls in a lopsided victory over the Chargers. Bateman logged 65% of the snaps, second to only Marquise Brown, a number that should only increase in more neutral game script. The Ravens dominated this game with defense and only threw the ball 27 times.

This week, keep an eye on Bateman against a surprisingly not-terrible Bengals defense that ranks 16th in aFPA to opposing wide receivers this season. It’s probably still too early to plug him into lineups in most leagues, but if you need a desperation starter during this crazy bye week, the targets are interesting enough to make him worth a gamble in a game that should feature some fireworks.
