Scouting report

LV TE Brock Bowers - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs Pittsburgh Steelers

Brock Bowers is our TE2 this week.

The Steelers have allowed an opposing tight end to break 10 PPR Points in nearly two-thirds of their games since the start of 2023. As sad as it is, double-digits is all you need to get the job done at the tight-end position this year.

LV TE Brock Bowers - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Denver Broncos

It feels like only a matter of time until Brock Bowers is the TE1 each week. Many of the top tier tight ends have pulled full-on Houdini disappearing acts to start the year and it's unclear if they'll re-appear at any point.

He only earned three targets last weekend but with Davante Adams likely out, the target share could go way up for Bowers. He's an auto-start.

LV TE Brock Bowers - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs Cleveland Browns

Brock Bowers settles in at TE3 in our rankings this week. He had the lowest target total of his young career a week ago. The Browns matchup might not look that appetizing but they haven't really faced a tight end this season that is worth paying much attention to.

Bowers should remain high on the target list for Gardner Minshew and should be in your lineup if he's on the field.

LV TE Brock Bowers - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs Carolina Panthers

Brock Bowers has vaulted all the way up to TE2 this week. The overall landscape of tight end scoring has been atrocious but the matchup makes this play pretty juicy. The Panthers allowed both New Orleans' tight ends find the end zone in Week 1.

Bowers has seen 17 targets and tallied 156 receiving yards through two weeks. He's yet to find the end zone but that streak has a good chance of ending this week.

LV TE Brock Bowers - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 at Baltimore Ravens

Brock Bowers led the Raiders in targets during Week 1. He turned his eight targets into six receptions for 58 yards. Bowers failed to find the end zone, but the Raiders only scored 10 points.

We have him pegged as the TE13 this weekend but he's two points away from TE6. The nature of the tight end position is such that we're on the razor's edge here. If he's on your roster, he's a plug-and-play.

LV TE Brock Bowers - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 at Los Angeles Chargers

With a projection of 8.75 points at the time of this writing, it's hard to get excited about Brock Bowers. But, when you look at the tight end landscape, that puts him as a TE1.

He'll make his debut this week and with so much turmoil between coaching changes and a new quarterback it's hard to predict what direction they'll go regarding the target distribution. If you have him on your roster, he's likely your best option but keep an eye on his usage in the early part of the season here.

LV TE Brock Bowers - 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside

When the head coach comes out with quotes saying that a player was "the most dynamic tight end in college football in a long time" you have to take notice. Brock Bowers was also described as a "hybrid receiver" by the general manager. If a rapport develops with either Gardner Minshew or Aidan O'Connell, we could be looking at a big touchdown total. Our current projections for Bowers have him only about 20 points away from the TE5, so a few trips to the touchdown could pay huge dividends.

Fantasy Downside

There are plenty of downside cases for Bowers, unfortunately. The main case would be that there's just simply too much competition for touches. With an emphasis on the run with Zamir White and target competition from Davante Adams, Jakobi Meyers, and the incumbent Michael Mayer, there could be very little meat left on the Raiders' bone.

2024 Bottom Line

The nature of the tight end position is such that we're usually relying on touchdowns to make a solid week once you get past the elite tier. Bowers is being drafted right at his current projection but the decision comes down to whether or not you believe in the potential of the offense. In redraft, he's fine if you're punting the position a bit, but you may need to play the matchups at least to start the season.
