Fantasy Upside
Ja'Marr Chase was tasked with playing in seven games without quarterback Joe Burrow, scored 9.8 half-PPR fantasy points per game in those contests, missed one game himself, and still finished as the overall WR13. That should give us an idea of what the absolute floor is for Chase as we head into 2024, and it's not too shabby. The ceiling, on the other hand, is fantastic. Over the last three seasons, Chase has averaged 9.6 targets, 6.2 receptions, 87.1 yards, and 16.1 half-PPR points per game with Burrow in the lineup, whether the QB was healthy or not.
Fantasy Downside
The downside revolves around the quarterback, who seems to come up against some sort of injury bad luck every offseason. This year there have been no reports of any setbacks for Burrow, but he's coming off of wrist surgery on his throwing hand, which inspires some discomfort. If Chase is doomed to operate as a fringe WR1/2 once again, his ADP is currently far too expensive.
2024 Bottom Line
Ja'Marr Chase is one of the absolute best wide receivers in the NFL today, and when his quarterback is at full health, he's not far behind the top of his position, either. The connection between the two has proven to be one of the most valuable combos in all of Fantasyland, and Chase should be treated as a very-high-ceiling acquisition in drafts. The wide receiver has multi-touchdown, 150+ yard upside in any given week.
