Jerry Jones added that Tony Pollard still has a lot of work to do, specifically in pass protection, where he missed a blitz pickup that got quarterback Dak Prescott hit.

Still, Pollard, a fourth-round pick out of Memphis who also returns kickoffs, has impressed the Cowboys so far in camp. And he might just be the Week 1 starter, if the Cowboys and Ezekiel Elliott don’t come to terms on a new contract.

Fantasy Impact: 

All along, Pollard has been the favorite to see passing-down action for the Cowboys and the thought was he could even hold his own in PPR leagues. Pollard's stock seems to be still on the rise, especially with Elliott still holding out.

Reunion: Free agent RB Alfred Morris has agreed to terms with the Cowboys, per his agents the Katz Bros.

Fantasy Impact: 

Rapoport mentioned Morris averaged almost 5 yards per carry for the Cowboys two years ago, so he's familiar with the offense. It's perhaps looking like this Elliott holdout could get ugly as each day passes. If it lasts into the season, Morris could very well at least see a split with Jackson while Pollard is still the favorite to see passing down work.

Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram notes that Darius Jackson, the Cowboys' sixth-round pick in 2016, received first-team reps at practice today, while Ezekiel Elliott is holding out of training camp in search of a new contract.

Fantasy Impact: 

Jackson has bounced around the league since 2016, also making stops in Cleveland and Green Bay before returning to Dallas. Jackson has six career carries, which all came in Week 17 of last season. Hill notes that Jackson is getting first-team reps now because he is the most experienced running back among the available players. But the team does have plans for Tony Pollard, the Cowboys' fourth-round pick out of Memphis. Pollard is expected to be the change of pace back behind Elliott, while Mike Weber is expected to challenge Jackson to be Elliott's primary backup.

Darren McFadden has officially moved back to the 53-man roster as of Tuesday afternoon.

The Cowboys activated the veteran running back from the Non-Football Injury list after a lengthy absence caused by a broken elbow. They released rookie running back Darius Jackson to make room on the roster.

The decision to release Jackson is at least mildly surprising, but the Cowboys were in a bit of a tough spot given their good overall health at this point in the season. Adding McFadden to the roster would have given them five total running backs, and Jackson had yet to appear in uniform for a regular season game.

Fantasy Impact: 

The decision to activate McFadden gives the Cowboys three running backs with 1,000-yard seasons on their resumes. Ezekiel Elliott is currently sitting on 1,392 yards during his rookie campaign, and Alfred Morris posted totals of 1,613, 1,275 and 1,074 during his first three years with Washington.
