Scouting report

LAR WR Tyler Johnson - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 at Arizona Cardinals

Tyler Johnson burst onto the scene after Puka Nacua went down last week and surprised just about everyone as he had 5 catches on 7 targets for 79 yards. Granted, 63 of those yards came on one play after a broken tackle, but it was a good showcase for what Johnson offers in the absence of Nacua.

Johnson is a flex play if you are desperate, but I think coming off the bench and seeing 7 targets right away from Matt Stafford speaks well to his role moving forward.

TB WR Tyler Johnson - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at New York Jets

The Bucs didn't even target Tyler Johnson last week, who played on just 54% of the offensive snaps. We thought Johnson would have an extended role with Mike Evans and Chris Godwin sidelined, but he ended up doing nothing. Instead, the Bucs turned to Cyril Grayson, who played a season-high 79% of the offensive snaps (matching Antonio Brown). Grayson finished with 95 scrimmage yards on four touches. Johnson could end up being relevant if Brown is unable to go due to his surprise ankle injury. But if Brown does play, it's hard to trust any other Bucs WR.

TB WR Tyler Johnson - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Carolina Panthers

Tyler Johnson gets bumped up the depth chart quite a bit this week. Chris Godwin (IR) is out and Mike Evans is trending towards being out. Even Antonio Brown has an injury (ankle) that has kept him limited in practice. And Breshod Perriman is on the Bucs' COVID/Reserve list, so Johnson is one of the few healthy Bucs wide receivers left. Johnson is a talented player, and he looked good last week finishing 4-41 on seven targets. Johnson has two games with 60+ receiving yards this season, and it wouldn't be crazy to see him hit that mark again this week. With Evans and Godwin both gone, and Brown dealing with an injury, Johnson certainly has appeal in Week 16, although it is a tough matchup against the Panthers. Johnson should be viewed as a WR4 this week.

TB WR Tyler Johnson - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. New York Giants

Tyler Johnson had more targets (5) and receptions (3) than Mike Evans last week, but otherwise didn't do a whole lot, finishing with 17 yards. Johnson would've been much more valuable if Chris Godwin was inactive, but as it stands he just sort of gets the leftovers. He's not quite productive enough to warrant fantasy consideration in Week 11 vs. the Giants.

TB WR Tyler Johnson - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 @ Washington Football Team

Tyler Johnson could be a potential WR2 this week if Chris Godwin ends up being inactive. He's already seeing a boost with Antonio Brown being ruled out. Even with Godwin active in Week 8, Johnson still found some production, finishing 5-65 on six targets. And he gets a great matchup this week against Washington who has allowed the second-most average fantasy points to wide receivers. Even if Godwin is active, he could be limited, which opens the door to more playing time for Johnson. As of now, we like Johnson as a WR3, but that could vary depending on the status of the other WRs.

TB WR Tyler Johnson - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 at New Orleans Saints

Tyler Johnson wasn't overly productive last week, finishing 2-16 on two targets, but he did play on 67% of the offensive snaps. His increased playing time was the result of Antonio Brown being inactive, and with the veteran wideout expected to miss another game, Johnson could have a role this week. Mike Evans typically struggles vs. the Saints, which could mean some opportunities open up for Johnson. He's still a very risky play, but he offers some intrigue in a favorable matchup vs. the Saints.

TB WR Tyler Johnson - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 at New York Giants

The Bucs have started to get rookie Tyler Johnson involved in the offense as he's now caught a touchdown in two consecutive games. However, he hasn't done much more than that, totaling three receptions in those games. He might have an increased role this week with Chris Godwin ruled out, but Johnson would be a risky play. Mike Evans, Scott Miller and Rob Gronkowski should see the bulk of the targets. Johnson will fight with Leonard Fournette, Ronald Jones and Justin Watson for scraps.
