Scouting report

NE QB Mac Jones - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs Jaguars

The Bills held Mac Jones in check, as the rookie has had some rookie moments over the last two weeks. Fortunately, he gets a pretty favorable matchup this week against the Jaguars, who seem to have packed it in for 2021. With the playoffs still within reach, look for Jones to get over some of his recent hiccups and get himself right against the Jags heading into a huge Week 18 game in Miami. He's a solid QB2 for this week in the finals.

NE QB Mac Jones - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs Bills

Yes, there will be a little bit of wind Sunday in Foxborough. But not nearly as much as we saw in Buffalo a few weeks ago, so Mac Jones will probably throw more than three times this week. Still, the Patriots may continue to lean on their rushing attack and make things as easy as they can for their rookie quarterback, who looked like a rookie last week against the Colts. The stage is huge this week. A win puts the Patriots on the brink of the AFC East title. Will Jones handle the pressure? How much will New England put on his plate? Jones is our No. 25 QB this week.

NE QB Mac Jones - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs Colts

So yeah, that happened. With the strong winds in Buffalo, the Patriots ran and ran and ran some more. Mac Jones threw all of three times and the Patriots still won. The point is that New England doesn't need to ask much of Jones to be successful. That trend might continue against the Colts, as New England may try to attack Indy with the run game. So Jones may have another pedestrian fantasy day, not exactly what you want going into the playoffs. Jones just cracks our top 25 this week at No. 24.

NE QB Mac Jones - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs Bills

It's been a very fine rookie season thus far for Mac Jones. But now the spotlight shines as bright as it has all season as the Patriots meet the Bills for the first time in 2021 on Monday night with first place in the AFC East on the line. Even without Tre'Davious White, Buffalo is still coming in as our No. 1 defense so far against opposing defenses. Jones has also been okay but not great on the road this season, so this will be a fascinating watch. Jones remains a low-end QB2.

NE QB Mac Jones - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs Titans

Mac Jones continues to control the offense and manage the offense well. His numbers won't jump out of the box score, but he always keeps the Patriots in a position to move the ball on offense. Fantasy-wise, he remains a QB2, but a fine QB2 at that, against a Titans team that has to be shaken after what happened in Week 11 against Houston.

NE QB Mac Jones - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs Falcons

Mac Jones has been coming along just fine in his rookie season. Not asked to do too much but can produce when needed. He's coming off his first three-touchdown game of his NFL career in last weeks' blowout win over the Browns. Now he faces the first short week of his NFL career as the Patriots visit Atlanta on Thursday night. Still, he has surpassed 250 passing yards in a game just once in his last six games, so he's still just a QB2, but a decent one at that.

NE QB Mac Jones - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs Browns

Most people are talking about Mac Jones grabbing Brian Burns' ankle. That was the icing on what was a poor fantasy day for Jones, though New England still easily defeated Carolina. Now he faces the Browns, who have been building confidence over the last few weeks. Jones continues to be just an average QB2 in fantasy.
