2022 Fantasy Upside
Wil Lutz has been one of the more reliable kickers since entering the league in 2016, hitting at least 80% of his attempts in all five seasons he has played in. And being in New Orleans, weather usually isn’t a factor, especially with the Saints having nine home games this season plus Atlanta having a dome, Tampa typically being nice, and Carolina usually good as well.

2022 Fantasy Downside
While weather usually isn’t a factor for the Saints and their kickers, one thing to keep in mind with Lutz this season is the Saints will visit Cleveland in Week 16 and Philadelphia in Week 17, so anything is possible those weeks. Lutz also missed the entire 2021 season due to a groin injury.

2022 Bottom Line
Lutz should be recovered from his groin injury and should be back in the fold as the Saints’ kicker. But we know these aren’t the old Saints anymore of Sean Payton and Drew Brees, so points won’t be as plentiful as they once were. As a result, we currently have Lutz just inside the top 20 kickers.

Week 17 vs Panthers

It’s not too often a kicker scores 10 points in a game and only has one field goal. But when you have a running back score six times, you can rack up the extra points. That’s what Lutz did in Week 16, kicking seven extra points and a field goal for his first double-digit game since Week 8.

Pretty surprisingly, Lutz has not made a field goal in the last three weeks, going 0/3 in the process. He has kicked three extra points in each of those games and is now 47/47 in XPs, but fantasy owners will obviously want more in the fantasy finals.

Week 15 vs Chiefs

Lutz had a bit of an off day in Week 14, missing two field goals. He's now 20/25 on field goals but still a perfect 44/44 on extra points. He should get plenty of chances to score in what should be an exciting game in New Orleans on Sunday.

Week 14 vs Eagles

Lutz missed his third field goal of the season last week against the Falcons, but he still has a solid 20/23 mark on the year and is 41/41 on extra points. The Saints offense hasn't been as explosive with Taysom Hill at quarterback, but it's been good enough to keep Lutz relevant in fantasy, ranking No. 7 this week.

Week 13 vs Falcons

Lutz hasn't had to do much recently in terms of field goals, but he did post another 4/4 day on extra points against the Broncos. He's not as high of an option as he usually is with the Saints' offense not as explosive as it is with Drew Brees under center.

Week 12 vs Broncos

Lutz missed only his second field goal of the season last week against the Falcons but still came away with six total points thanks to three extra points, of which he is still perfect (34/34). The offense is still rolling well, so Lutz will always have plenty of chances at points. He's among our top five kickers this week.
