Scouting report

BUF QB Kyle Orton - Week 17, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17: Orton vs Patriots

It was a wild one in Oakland, and for the second time in three weeks, the Bills went pass-happy. Kyle Orton threw 49 passes for 329 yards and three touchdowns. He also threw two interceptions. If you look at Orton's numbers, they ended up decent, as he only failed to reach the 200 passing yard mark three times in his 11 starts and only went two games without throwing a TD.

Orton will face the Patriots for the second time this season and the first meeting was a decent one for the veteran. He threw for 299 yards and two touchdowns with only one pick. New England is ranked 19th in aFPA to quarterbacks so the matchup is neutral on Sunday. Even with those factors, Orton does not rate high enough to go on the road and warrant a fantasy start. Keep him on the bench for Week 17.

BUF QB Kyle Orton - Week 16, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16: Orton vs Raiders

The BIlls won last week, but Kyle Orton did not have a successful Sunday. He had a season-low 158 yards passing and threw at least one interception for the third straight game. It was also the second time this season he has not thrown a touchdown.

It has been hit or miss with Orton all season long and that inconsistency is why is fantasy value has been low most of the season. For Week 16, he has a great matchup against the Raiders who are 29th in aFPA to quarterbacks. Even against Oakland, Orton should remain on your bench this Sunday on the road.

BUF QB Kyle Orton - Week 15, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15: Orton vs Packers

Kyle Orton threw for 355 yards last week but only threw one touchdown and two interceptions. After going four straight games without a pick, he has thrown four interceptions over the past two games. Coach Doug Marrone has said he will stick with Orton the rest of the way, even if they are eliminated from the playoffs.

Orton will face the Packers in Week 15 who are 20th in aFPA to quarterbacks. It's doubtful he will throw 57 pass attempts this week and he is not a great fantasy option despite being at home and a slightly favorable matchup. Keep Orton on the bench.

BUF QB Kyle Orton - Week 14, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14: Orton vs Broncos

Kyle Orton started off with a bang when he was named the Buffalo starter back in October, but his numbers have settled in since his first three starts. Last week, he threw for 190 yards, but had one touchdown pass and two interceptions. The picks were his first ones since Week 7 (his third start).

For Week 14, they have a great matchup against Denver who is 28th in aFPA to quarterbacks. But even with that advantage, the Bills want to run the football in December and we think with Fred Jackson healthy, they will try to do that. Keep Orton on the bench for his road game at Mile High.

BUF QB Kyle Orton - Week 13, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13: Orton vs Browns

Kyle Orton is coming off a solid 230-yard, two touchdown pass performance last week, but it was against the Jets who are falling apart overall. Orton has still be consistent for the most part, but not overwhelming.

He will face a Browns defense that is ranked 10th in aFPA to quarterbacks. Cleveland has 15 interceptions this season which is most per game in the NFL. It's probably best to keep Orton on the bench for Week 13, as he is one of the worst fantasy QB plays this week.

BUF QB Kyle Orton - Week 12, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12: Orton vs Jets

It's been a rough week for western New York and the Buffalo Bills in general. They have not been able to practice and now their home game has been moved to Detroit on the Monday night. The extra day will help them as far as preparation is concerned and playing indoors should help Kyle Orton.

Orton had his worst fantasy outing last week in Miami failing to reach the 200-yard passing mark and throwing a touchdown for the first time since being name the starter. He has a great matchup against the Jets this week who are 28th in aFPA to quarterbacks. But with all the chaos going on, the Bills players in general are not going to be rated very highly this week. Keep Orton on the bench as he rates a QB2 for Week 12

BUF QB Kyle Orton - Week 11, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11: Orton vs Dolphins
Kyle Orton is coming off another nice outing although he only had one touchdown last week as opposed to the four he threw two weeks ago against the Jets. He has been very solid since becoming a starter and should remain in that role the rest of the season. He has been playing the top pass defenses in the NFL and still has been putting up solid numbers.

Week 11 could prove tricky for owners who picked up Orton. Miami is 2nd in aFPA to quarterbacks. Even with Orton's success, this appears to bad matchup. Keep him on the bench against the Dolphins.
