KC RB Isiah Pacheco - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16vs. Houston Texans

Isiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt both received 13 carries in the Week 15 win over the Browns. Not only that, both played 28 of 75 snaps. Since Pacheco returned in Week 13, he has played 86 snaps to Hunt's 75. Pacheco hasn't taken the full workload or at least a huge majority on a week-by-week basis as we may have thought after his return. The Chiefs look like they're going to roll with this committee going forward, making things a little messy for fantasy purposes. The Chiefs are also facing a stingy Texans run defense. Pacheco does have more upside than Hunt and checks in as a flex option this week. It's much easier having Patrick Mahomes than it would have been with Carson Wentz.

KC RB Isiah Pacheco - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at Cleveland Browns

The Chiefs got Isiah Pacheco more involved in the offense last week, rushing 14 times and adding two receptions. With Pacheco back in the lead in the backfield, he bumps up closer to RB2 territory going into a matchup with the Browns. While Cleveland ranks 8th against running backs in fantasy points allowed, they have allowed 18 rushing touchdowns, tied for 4th most. Look for the Chiefs to keep feeding Pacheco. He should see enough volume to at least warrant flex appeal.

KC RB Isiah Pacheco - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. Los Angeles Chargers

Given the fact Kareem Hunt had been performing well, the Chiefs were able to ease Isiah Pacheco back into action. As a result, Pacheco had just eight touches against the Raiders. But he did average 6.3 yards on his seven carries. Look for the Chiefs to increase his workload this week against the Chargers, who gave up 102 yards and a touchdown to Bijan Robinson last week. Pacheco will eventually be back as the lead runner in Kansas City but Hunt will still be around. Look at Pacheco as a RB2 this week.

KC RB Isiah Pacheco - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Las Vegas Raiders

The long-awaited return of Isiah Pacheco looks like it will happen this week. The Chiefs still have to activate him from injured reserve formally, but that will happen Thursday. So the question is how will the Chiefs split the workload between Pacheco and Kareem Hunt, who did a nice job holding down the fort in Pacheco's absence. The Chiefs were able to take their time and didn't have to rush Pacheco back, so he should be ready to roll Friday against a Raiders team that ranks 25th against running backs in fantasy. Given the uncertainly of the split, Pacheco should be considered a flex for now until we get more information.

KC RB Isiah Pacheco - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Carson Steele was a nice story in the preseason, but so far, this is still Isiah Pacheco's backfield. Pacheco played 43/54 snaps in Week 1, Samaje Perine played just eight, and Steele saw five. Pacheco totaled 78 yards and a touchdown against the Ravens and now faces a Bengals team that got gashed last week by Rhamondre Stevenson. Pacheco is a strong start this week.

KC RB Isiah Pacheco - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs. Baltimore Ravens

Isiah Pacheco is back for another go-around after totaling almost 1,200 yards and nine touchdowns. The Chiefs also have their offensive line mainly intact from last season. The only change up front is rookie Kingsley Suamataia replacing Donovan Smith. That's good news for Pacheco who should continue leading the charge in the Chiefs' rushing attack. Consider Pacheco an RB2 for this week as one of the steady options in the offense.

KC RB Isiah Pacheco - 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside

Isiah Pacheco is the clear-cut RB1 in Kansas City. Even with missing three games last season, Pacheco still nearly finished as a fantasy RB1, ending up 13th at the position with the 12th-highest per-game average. He was also dominant in the Chiefs' Super Bowl run with 373 total yards and three touchdowns on 93 touches, including 65 yards on 24 touches in the Super Bowl. He isn't worried about having goal-line work vultured or other backs digging too much into his workload.

Fantasy Downside

Not much downside other than the Chiefs may be limiting Pacheco during the regular season to keep him fresher for the playoffs.

2024 Bottom Line

Pacheco is a solid RB1 in fantasy. Another 250+ touches look to be in the works with plenty of opportunity in the passing game. He's a solid second-rounder in drafts with very few flaws.
