2022 Fantasy Upside
Kyle Pitts had a lot of hype going into his rookie season after being the highest-drafted tight end all-time and all he did was become just the second tight end ever, behind some guy named Mike Ditka, to post 1,000 yards as a rookie. The last time we’ve seen a rookie tight end explode onto the scene like this was Jeremy Shockey in 2002. And with only Drake London to worry about on the outside for opposing defenses, Pitts should only continue to gobble up targets (5th among tight ends in 2021). And he has to score more than one touchdown this season, right?
2022 Fantasy Downside
The question is will Marcus Mariota (or eventually Desmond Ridder) be as effective as Matt Ryan was? Other than that, it’s hard to really find any downside to Pitts. He’s not Mark Andrews or Travis Kelce? Yeah, we know, that’s stretching it.
2022 Bottom Line
Pitts is a freak, plain and simple. Atlanta used him just about everywhere on the field and that will continue in 2022. And you can argue he can be the No. 1 option in the passing game, no worse than No. 2. He’s our No. 3 tight end heading into drafts and is worth a third-round pick.
