Ben Tate Wildcard game vs. Ravens
Ben Tate was signed by the Steelers earlier this week with LeVeon Bell likely out against the Ravens. But he will have had just three practices to prepare for this game, meaning his role will be limited. I wouldn't expect anything more than a short-yardage carry or two for Tate in this game, with rookie Josh Harris getting the majority of the carries.

Ben Tate was the backup last week after it was announced Jerick McKinnon would be inactive. Tate and Joe Banyard combined for seven touches behind Matt Asiata (Tate had five rushes, Banyard had two). Tate won't be on the field enough to make a fantasy impact.

Ben Tate - Week 12 vs. Green Bay Packers

Ben Tate could play the same week he was signed by the Vikings. The team claimed him off of waivers in order to add depth. Adrian Peterson isn't coming back and Matt Asiata is likely to miss this week with a concussion.

We wouldn't expect Tate to get too much work, however. It's not easy for a player to just come into a team mid-season and got acclimated. He may play, but he won't produce enough to really be great. He's outside of RB3 territory.

Week 11 – Ben Tate vs. Houston Texans
Although Ben Tate scored a touchdown and finished with 61 total yards in Cleveland’s victory over Cincinnati in the Battle of Ohio, he received fewer carries than Isaiah Crowell and Terrance West. Of course, the way the Browns backfield is constructed, Tate could end up leading the way this weekend, especially since he used to play for the Texans and undoubtedly has some extra motivation. Nonetheless, Tate does not deserve to be viewed as anything more than a potentially hazardous RB3/flex.

Week 10 – Ben Tate at Cincinnati Bengals
Ben Tate’s turn at the top of the depth chart may be over, at least for the moment. And it should be. Tate was terrible on Sunday, rushing for three yards on 10 carries. He did catch four passes for 29 yards, but Terrance West played better and is expected to have the biggest slice of pie on Thursday during the Battle of Ohio. Tate remains a flex candidate because of Cincinnati’s porous run defense and the fact six teams are on bye, but offers much more risk than reward.

Week 9 – Ben Tate vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
All of the components of Cleveland's three-headed backfield are struggling, but Ben Tate remains the safest bet of the bunch. He received six more carries than Isaiah Crowell and Terrance West combined last Sunday and at least managed a touchdown run, which minimized the damage from Ben accumulating just 34 total yards. With Tampa Bay giving up 123.9 yards per game, Tate is a worthwhile RB2 gamble.
