Scouting report

PIT RB Fitzgerald Toussaint - Week 17, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. Cleveland
With Le'Veon Bell sitting out the finale, Toussaint will get some run this week. Cleveland's run defense is awful, meaning he could have some success. But we're looking at 10 to 15 touches here, which makes him more of a flex option than anything.

PIT RB Fitzgerald Toussaint - Week 19, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 19 at Denver
Toussaint had a strong game filling in for DeAngelo Williams last week in Cincinnati, gaining 58 yards on 17 carries and adding 60 receiving yards on four receptions. He'll get the nod again this week, though the sledding could be considerably more difficult against Denver's top-rated defense. There are certainly some better options out there, especially considering Toussaint will share time with Jordan Todman. But he should get 15 to 20 touches.

PIT RB Fitzgerald Toussaint - Week 18, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 18 at Cincinnati
Toussaint would get the bulk of the carries in place of DeAngelo Williams if Williams does no play as expected. That should net him 10 to 15 rushing attempts. And he also should get some short-yardage - read goal line - carries. Toussaint had 12 carries for 24 yards last week at Cleveland, but he's had a week to get ready for this one. Look for something closer to 40 to 50 total yards here.

BAL RB Fitzgerald Toussaint - 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fitzgerald Toussaint was buried on the depth chart as rookie last season. He finished the year with just six carries and three receptions for a total of 39 yards. He did return two kicks, but was mostly off the field as the Ravens had three tailbacks and a fullback ahead of him on the depth chart.

Fantasy Upside
Starter Justin Forsett is coming off a career year, but he’s turning 30 in October and Toussaint could have a chance to battle Lorenzo Taliaferro and rookie Javorius Allen for playing time if Forsett goes down with an injury.

Fantasy Downside
Toussaint isn’t as good a fit for the new offense in Baltimore as the other backs on the roster and the most likely scenario is that he stays fourth on the depth chart behind Forsett, Taliaferro and Allen.

Bottom Line
There’s very little hope that Toussaint gets enough opportunity to be fantasy relevant. He showed flashes in college (including rushing for over 1,000 yards and nine touchdowns during his sophomore year at Michigan), but ultimately there’s just too much talent in front of him on the depth chart to warrant any fantasy consideration.

Update:
Toussaint was let go as the Ravens trimmed their roster down to 53 players.

BAL RB Fitzgerald Toussaint - Week 19, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Divisional Round – Fitzgerald Toussaint vs. New England
Fitzgerald Toussaint didn’t get a carry last week, but as we’ve seen this season, he’s as likely as anyone else to get some change of pace touches behind starter Justin Forsett. Bernard Pierce got the one carry last week that didn’t go to Forsett, and that’s the kind of workload you can hope for from Toussaint. A few touches at best, and really too risky to start in most fantasy formats.

BAL RB Fitzgerald Toussaint - Week 18, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Wildcard Weekend – Fitzgerald Toussaint vs. Pittsburgh
Fitzgerald Toussaint had two carries and a reception against the Browns to finish the season last week but only had eight total yards from scrimmage. Expect Toussaint to continue to get the occasional touches, splitting change of pace duty with Bernard Pierce behind starter Justin Forsett. Against a tough defense, with minimal workload guaranteed, Toussaint should be avoided in fantasy leagues.

BAL RB Fitzgerald Toussaint - Week 17, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 – Fitzgerald Toussaint vs. Cleveland
Fitzgerald Toussaint had four carries for 11 yards and added 20 more yards on two receptions against the Texans last week. He got change of pace work behind starter Justin Forsett, and will continue to battle Bernard Pierce for that role in Week 17. Still, six total touches aren’t anything to get excited about, and fantasy owners shouldn’t expect more from the undrafted rookie out of Michigan. Leave him on waivers.
