Scouting report

NYG RB Shane Vereen - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Washington

Shane Vereen had only 28 yards on 5 touches last week against the Chiefs, including 3 receptions. Vereen simply hasn’t been effective this year, and with Orleans Darkwa and Wayne Gallman also getting work in the passing game, there’s no reason to expect Vereen’s targets to increase. Fantasy owners should leave Vereen on waivers in all league formats.

NYG RB Shane Vereen - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 at San Francisco 49ers

Shane Vereen didn’t get any carries last week against the Rams, but he did catch 3-of-4 passes thrown his way. He only gained 14 yards, but it was good to see him be active in the passing game. Still, Orleans Darkwa is getting the bulk of the snaps, and Wayne Gallman is seeing nearly as many as Vereen. While the 49ers are dead last in rushing yards allowed per game, it’s hard to trust Vereen with such limited opportunities in what has become a crowded backfield. He should be left on waivers in most leagues.

NYG RB Shane Vereen - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. Los Angeles Rams

Shane Vereen was targeted 4 times in the passing game against the Seahawks in Week 7 before the bye, but he only gained 2 yards on 3 catches. Vereen is still an active part of the offense, but he doesn’t produce the kind of numbers that make him worth adding to your roster in any fantasy format. Unless you’re in a deep, desperate situation in PPR formats, Vereen should be left on waivers.

NYG RB Shane Vereen - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at Denver Broncos

Shane Vereen caught 4 passes last week and ran the ball 5 times, but he wound up with only 45 total yards from scrimmage, and his role in the passing game is being challenged by rookie Wayne Gallman. With a tough matchup against the Broncos this week, he should remain on waivers in most leagues, although he has some deep PPR league value on the bench.

NYG RB Shane Vereen - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs. Los Angeles Chargers

Shane Vereen received 5 carries last week, but he’s only caught s6x passes in his last three games combined. He has yet to put up any considerable fantasy points since his 9-catch performance in Week 1. Regardless of the matchup, Vereen has limited fantasy value unless you need a desperation starter in PPR formats. He should be on waivers in most leagues.

NYG RB Shane Vereen - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Shane Vereen had only 23 yards on 3 touches last week, including a pair of receptions. He received only 2 targets all game, but he should still be active in the passing game moving forward.

This week, Vereen faces a Bucs team that allowed 8 catches and 83 yards receiving to the RB position last week. Vereen isn’t a high-end option, but if you’re desperate, and in a PPR format, he has enough upside as the primary receiving option out of the backfield.

NYG RB Shane Vereen - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at Philadelphia Eagles

Shane Vereen had 6 carries and 3 catches on Monday night against the Lions for a total of 55 yards from scrimmage. Vereen is probably the safest Giants back because he’s the main running back used in the passing game, but it’s hard to trust anyone in the New York Giants backfield right now.

Vereen faces an Eagles defense that gave up 4 catches, 52 yards, and a touchdown receiving to Chris Thompson in Week 1, so there’s some upside for Vereen, but he’s a low-end RB3 option in PPR formats this week, at best.
