Week 6 Essential NFL Practice News & Notes for Thursday
Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater (ankle) took full practice reps again Thursday. Bridgewater is expected to start against the Lions in Week 6.
Raiders QB Derek Carr (ankle, knee) took limited practice reps Wednesday. Carr is on track to start against the Chargers, but he’s not a good start this week.
Redskins QB Robert Griffin III (ankle) was ruled out for Week 6. Griffin’s return is “a ways off,” per the Washington Post. This is the Kirk Cousins show for now.
Titans QB Jake Locker (right hand) missed practice again Thursday. Locker seems doubtful for Week 6 and is an untrustworthy start even if he does play. Charlie Whitehurst likely gets the start, though the 1-4 Titans might want to get a look at Zach Mettenberger.
Buccaneers QB Josh McCown (right thumb) missed practice again Thursday. McCown has apparently lost his job to Mike Glennon, per head coach Lovie Smith. Mike Glennon has a tough matchup with the Ravens, but he has played well thus far.
Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (right shoulder) took limited practice reps Wednesday. Palmer is leaving on Friday to receive treatment in Denver, which may indicate that he had a setback after making “significant progress.” At this point, it appears unlikely that he’ll be able to start Week 6, but we should know more this weekend. Drew Stanton is recovering from a concussion, so the Cards might be forced to start Logan Thomas if Palmer or Stanton can't play.
Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back) returned to full practice reps Thursday after missing Wednesday. No worries here other than, you know, playing the Seahawks in Seattle.
Cardinals QB Drew Stanton (concussion) took limited practice reps Wednesday. Stanton is “feeling good,” but hasn’t put in a full practice. We’ll likely know tomorrow if he’ll be able to start (assuming Carson Palmer is out).
