Streaming Quarterbacks: Week 3 Targets
Welcome back to the wonderful world of streaming quarterbacks. In Week 2, our optimal QB streamer, Andy Dalton, posted 21.56 fantasy points.
Overall, our three streaming QBs averaged 17.56 points per game, which was dragged down heavily by Alex Smith’s dud on Thursday night. Although the numbers looked good for Smith, Thursday night did him in. The lesson: think twice before starting a streamer playing Thursday, particularly if he faces a strong defense. That said, Tyrod Taylor was a standout performer, finishing the week with 25.98 fantasy points, so two of our three picks had great success in Week 2.
Through two weeks, our optimal streamer is averaging enough points per game to be QB7, better than Cam Newton, Russell Wilson, Philip Rivers, Peyton Manning and Drew Brees. As a whole, our streaming QBs would be QB14. Now, on to Week 3.
As before, our streaming targets are based primarily on the quarterback’s fantasy points per attempt (FPAT) and the opposing defense’s Schedule-Adjusted Fantasy Points allowed (aFPA). Note: 4for4’s 2015 aFPA data will first come out after we get three full weeks of data in the system.
Week 3 QB Streaming Targets
Nick Foles (STL) vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
In Week 3, Nick Foles and the Rams will host the Steelers, who so far look like a great defense to target if you're streaming quarterbacks. After a difficult Week 2 on the road, Foles returns to St. Louis where he torched Seattle’s defense to the tune of QB8 for the week. Now, he faces a far easier challenge and might get Todd Gurley back. Despite a poor Week 2, Foles is averaging 0.49 FPAT, right around the 0.5 I am beginning to target for streamers.
Foles is available in 82% of Yahoo public leagues, and he is my optimal streaming QB of the week.
