Week 10 Essential NFL Practice News & Notes for Friday
Jets QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (knee, questionable) took limited practice reps all week and is questionable for Week 10. Fitzpatrick intends to start this week.
Chiefs QB Nick Foles (right elbow) took full practice reps on Friday after being limited earlier in the week.
Giants QB Ryan Nassib (right elbow) took full practice reps on Friday after being limited earlier in the week.
Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (not injury related) took full practice reps again Friday. Palmer has a great matchup this week against the 49ers.
Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (knee) took full practice reps all week. Roethlisberger should fare better this week at home against the Cowboys.
Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back, questionable) took full practice reps all week and is questionable for Week 10. Romo has been cleared to play, though it looks like the Cowboys are going to roll with Dak Prescott for now.
Broncos QB Trevor Siemian (left shoulder) took full practice reps all week. Siemian is a worthwhile streamer given his matchup with the Saints, though he has flopped in good spots before.
Chiefs QB Alex Smith (head, ear) took full practice reps all week. He has a good matchup with the Panthers, but will be without top target Jeremy Maclin (groin).
Seahawks QB Russell Wilson (knee) took full practice reps all week. No worries here.
Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston (knee) took full practice reps all week. He’ll be fine to face the Bears.
Texans RB Alfred Blue (ribs) took full practice reps again Friday.
Broncos RB Devontae Booker (shoulder) took full practice reps all week. Booker is likely going to lose some touches to Kapri Bibbs but should still lead the backfield in touches.
Bears RB KaDeem Carey (illness) took full practice reps again Friday.
Falcons RB Tevin Coleman (hamstring, out) missed practice all week and is out for Week 10. Devonta Freeman should be given another big workload against the Eagles.
Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) took full practice reps again Friday. Forte will be fine to face the Rams.
Texans RB Jonathan Grimes (illness, questionable) missed practice again Friday and is questionable for Week 10.
Rams RB Todd Gurley (thigh, questionable) took full practice reps Friday after missing practice earlier in the week and is questionable for Week 10. Gurley said that he felt “pretty good” on Friday, and would “leave it at that.” If he can’t play, Benny Cunningham is likely the “next man up” in a bad matchup against the Jets. Given the full reps on Friday, we expect Gurley will play. The Rams play early on Sunday.
Titans RB Derrick Henry (calf) took full practice reps Friday after missing practice earlier in the week. Surprisingly, it looks like Henry will play this week. He’ll serve as DeMarco Murray’s backup.
Vikings RB Ronnie Hillman (heel) took full practice reps all week. Hillman saw a season-high eight touches in Week 9 and was the most productive of all the Minnesota running backs.
49ers RB Carlos Hyde (shoulder, questionable) took limited practice reps all week and is questionable for Week 10. Hyde’s availability for this week’s game will be determined on Saturday, though he sounded optimistic on Thursday, saying that things are going “in a good direction.” If he can’t play in Week 10, DuJuan Harris would once again see a big workload, but it’s a tough matchup against the Cardinals.
Broncos RB Andy Janovich (hand) took full practice reps all week.
Saints RB Daniel Lasco (hamstring, questionable) missed practice all week and is questionable for Week 10.
Buccaneers RB Doug Martin (hamstring, questionable) took full practice reps on Friday after being limited earlier in the week and is questionable for Week 10. The full practice is a good sign. He’s a game-time call, and the Bucs play early on Sunday. Beat writer Rick Stroud said that Martin “doesn’t seem prepared to play.” The matchup against the Bears (#10 in RB aFPA) isn’t bad. If he’s out, Peyton Barber would likely see the bulk of the touches and he’s likely to have a significant role even if Martin is active.
Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon (ankle) took full practice reps all week. McKinnon should be fine to play, though he’s losing touches to Matt Asiata and Ronnie Hillman.
Seahawks RB Christine Michael (hamstring, questionable) was limited Friday after taking full reps earlier in the week and is questionable for Week 10. This is a midweek downgrade, so he’s looking iffy for Sunday night. If he’s out, C.J. Prosise would seem to be the primary beneficiary. Even before Michael’s injury, HC Pete Carroll said that Prosise would “play a lot” in Week 10, so he’s a Sneaky Start this week.
Texans RB Lamar Miller (shoulder) took full practice reps on Friday after being limited earlier in the week. He was removed from the injury report, so he’s good to go.
Titans RB DeMarco Murray (toe) took full practice reps on Friday after being limited earlier in the week. Murray was removed from the injury report, so he’s ready for a full workload.
Seahawks RB Thomas Rawls (fibula, out) took full practice reps on Friday after being limited earlier in the week and is out for Week 10.
Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers (foot, out) missed practice all week and is out for Week 10. Rodgers is out. If Doug Martin can’t play, it’s likely going to be Peyton Barber and Mike James in the Tampa backfield this week.
Packers RB James Starks (knee, questionable) took limited practice reps all week and is questionable for Week 10. Starks might return this week. Once healthy, he should form a committee with Ty Montgomery, though we believe Montgomery will lead this backfield in scoring. It doesn’t look like he’s poised for a big workload this week.
Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (not injury related) took full practice reps Friday after missing practice earlier in the week. He was removed from the injury report, so he’s good to go.
Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (concussion) took full practice reps all week. Ware is going to make his return this week. He’s a low-end RB1 in a bad matchup against the Panthers.
Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams (knee, out) missed practice all week and is out for Week 10. Fitzgerald Toussaint will serve as LeVeon Bell’s backup while Williams is out.
Chargers WR Travis Benjamin (knee, doubtful) missed practice all week and is doubtful for Week 10. The doubtful tag indicates that Benjamin won’t play this week. Tyrell Williams and Dontrelle Inman get a bump, and the Chargers could elect to run more two-TE sets with Antonio Gates and Hunter Henry.
Cardinals WR John Brown (hamstring) took full practice reps on Friday after being limited earlier in the week. Brown is no longer on the injury report, so he should be fine for a very good matchup with the 49ers.
Cowboys WR Dez Bryant (knee, questionable) took full practice reps all week and is questionable for Week 10. No worries here.
Chargers WR Jeremy Butler (ankle, out) missed practice all week and is out for Week 10.
Dolphins WR Leonte Carroo (knee, questionable) took full practice reps all week and is questionable for Week 10.
Steelers WR Sammie Coates (finger) took full practice reps again Friday. He was supposedly over the finger injury, but appeared on the IR again this week. He’s once again been removed, so he will play against the Cowboys.
Packers WR Randall Cobb (hamstring) took limited practice reps all week. Cobb sat out the first half and then (curiously) came in at halftime to catch two passes for 14 yards and a touchdown. According to Mike McCarthy, Cobb is going to be a “full-time player” in Week 10. He was removed from the injury report, so he’s good to go.
Chiefs WR Chris Conley (quadricep) took full practice reps on Friday after being limited earlier in the week. Conley could see extra targets with Jeremy Maclin iffy for Week 10.
Giants WR Victor Cruz (ankle) missed practice again Friday. Roger Lewis should see increased snaps and targets with Cruz likely out. We’ll know more on Saturday, but it looks like Cruz will miss Week 10.
Patriots WR Julian Edelman (foot, questionable) took limited practice reps all week and is questionable for Week 10. Edelman should continue to play through the foot injury.
Buccaneers WR Mike Evans (concussion) took full practice reps all week. Evans is out of the league’s concussion protocol and is good to go for Week 10.
Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald (ankle) took limited practice reps all week. Fitzgerald was removed from the injury report so he’s good to go.
Texans WR Will Fuller (knee, questionable) took limited practice reps all week and is questionable for Week 10. It looks like Fuller is tentatively on track to play this week, though he’s not 100 percent.
Steelers WR Darrius Heyward-Bey (foot, out) missed practice all week and is out for Week 10.
Patriots WR Chris Hogan (back, questionable) missed practice Friday and is questionable for Week 10. It looks like a midweek downgrade for Hogan, so his status is up in the air for Sunday night.
Jaguars WR Allen Hurns (concussion, questionable) took limited practice reps again Friday and is questionable for Week 10. Hurns still has to be cleared by Sunday. If he’s out, Marqise Lee will be a Sneaky Start.
Redskins WR DeSean Jackson (shoulder, doubtful) missed practice all week and is doubtful for Week 10. Jackson has been ruled out, per multiple reports. Jamison Crowder, Pierre Garcon and Jordan Reed get a bump, while Ryan Grant will see his snaps increase, though he only has three catches for 27 yards on the year. Vernon Davis may actually be the one who sees a good bump in snaps.
Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry (shoulder, questionable) returned to take limited reps Friday after missing practice Thursday and is questionable for Week 10. The Dolphins play late, so hopefully we’ll get more info over the weekend. Landry looks like a WR2/WR3 this week given the injury.
Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (groin, out) missed practice all week and is out for Week 10. With Maclin out, Albert Wilson and Tyreek Hill get a big bump in playing time, but Chris Conley could see a few extra targets as well. Travis Kelce is the “safest” receiver of the bunch.
Jets WR Brandon Marshall (foot) took full practice reps on Friday after being limited earlier in the week. Marshall has had a disappointing season, but he has a pretty favorable schedule down the stretch and will have the Week 11 bye to get healthy.
Bears WR Eddie Royal (toe, questionable) took limited practice reps all week and is questionable for Week 10. Royal might be able to return this week. He’ll likely serve as the third or fourth option behind Alshon Jeffery and Zach Miller.
Buccaneers WR Russell Shepard (hip, out) missed practice all week and is out for Week 10.
Jets WR Devin Smith (knee) took full practice reps all week.
49ers WR Torrey Smith (back, questionable) took limited practice reps all week and is questionable for Week 10.
Rams WR Nelson Spruce (calf, out) missed practice all week and is out for Week 10.
Dolphins WR Kenny Stills (calf, questionable) returned to take limited reps Friday after missing practice Thursday and is questionable for Week 10. Stills missed snaps with an illness last week, and now he’s dealing with a calf injury. It looks like he’ll play, but calf injuries are tricky.
Texans WR Jaelen Strong (ankle, out) missed practice all week and is out for Week 10.
Broncos WR Jordan Taylor (shoulder) took full practice reps all week.
Vikings WR Laquon Treadwell (hamstring, questionable) took limited practice reps again Friday and is questionable for Week 10.
Jaguars WR Bryan Walters (concussion, out) missed practice all week and is out for Week 10.
Steelers WR Markus Wheaton (shoulder, out) missed practice Friday after taking limited reps Thursday and is out for Week 10.
Chargers WR Tyrell Williams (knee, questionable) took limited practice reps again Friday and is questionable for Week 10. Williams finished the game in Week 9 and should be fine to face the Dolphins.
Bengals WR James Wright (hamstring) returned to take limited reps Friday after missing practice Thursday.
Patriots TE Martellus Bennett (ankle, questionable) took limited practice reps all week and is questionable for Week 10. Bennett should play through the injury. He could see an uptick in targets with Chris Hogan looking iffy.
Eagles TE Trey Burton (hamstring, questionable) took full practice reps Friday and is questionable for Week 10.
Eagles TE Brent Celek (rib, questionable) took limited practice reps again Friday and is questionable for Week 10.
Packers TE Jared Cook (ankle, doubtful) took limited practice reps all week and is doubtful for Week 10. It appears that Cook may be closer to a return, but it won’t happen this week.
Jets TE Kellen Davis (elbow, out) missed practice all week and is out for Week 10.
Cardinals TE Darren Fells (ankle) took full practice reps on Friday after being limited earlier in the week .
Chargers TE Antonio Gates (knee) took full practice reps again Friday. Gates is good to go.
Seahawks TE Jimmy Graham (knee) took full practice reps on Friday after being limited earlier in the week. Graham was removed from the injury report so he’ll play against the Patriots. He posted a goose egg in his only game against New England.
Dolphins TE MarQueis Gray (ankle, questionable) took full practice reps on Friday after being limited earlier in the week and is questionable for Week 10.
Chargers TE Hunter Henry (knee, questionable) took full practice reps on Friday after being limited earlier in the week and is questionable for Week 10. Henry should be able to return this week, and with Travis Benjamin out, the team may elect to run more two-TE sets with Henry and Antonio Gates.
Dolphins TE Dion Sims (concussion, questionable) took full practice reps all week and is questionable for Week 10.
Falcons TE Jacob Tamme (shoulder, out) missed practice all week and is out for Week 10. Austin Hooper is a Sneaky Start again this week.
Titans TE Delanie Walker (groin) took full practice reps all week. Walker will be fine to face the Packers, who are #16 in TE aFPA.
Seahawks TE Luke Willson (knee, questionable) took full practice reps again Friday and is questionable for Week 10.
