Week 5 Essential NFL Practice News & Notes for Wednesday

Patriots QB Jacoby Brissett (right thumb) took limited practice reps Wednesday.

Bears QB Jay Cutler (right thumb) did not practice Wednesday. HC John Fox said that Brian Hoyer has a chance to remain the starter even when Cutler comes back, so he’s likely going to continue to start until he has a bad performance or two.

Patriots QB Jimmy Garoppolo (right shoulder) took limited practice reps Wednesday.

Browns QB Josh McCown (left shoulder) did not practice Wednesday.

Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (concussion, out) did not practice Wednesday. With Palmer out, Drew Stanton will get the start. In eight starts for the Cardinals in 2014, he averaged 203 passing yards with 0.75 touchdowns and 0.63 interceptions, so he doesn’t look like much of a streaming option even in a pretty good matchup with a mediocre San Francisco pass defense. Larry Fitzgerald, Michael Floyd and John Brown all take a hit.

Jets QB Bryce Petty (right shoulder) did not practice Wednesday.

Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back) did not practice Wednesday.

Broncos QB Trevor Siemian (left shoulder) did not practice Wednesday. HC Gary Kubiak said that he’s planning that Siemian will be available to start on Sunday. The injury is to his non-throwing shoulder, which makes a quick return more likely. If he can’t play, Paxton Lynch would get the start.
