IDP Waiver Suggestions and Start/Sits - Week 7
Week 6 could mark the loss of yet another stud IDP (Reshad Jones). He reportedly suffered a torn rotator cuff and could miss the remainder of the season. I can’t believe we’re heading into Week 7! The small sample sizes are starting to turn into trends, and we are starting to get an idea of how our IDPs are going to perform. Keep your eye on underperforming players (like Lavonte David) as buy low candidates, as their owners could be ready to move on. I still trust the track record of the top tier guys.
The waiver wire is getting thinner as we head into Week 7, but there’s still talent out there. Here are my waiver suggestions and matchup plays for this week.
IDP Waiver Wire
Defensive Line
DeForest Buckner, DE, San Francisco 49ers (70 snaps/92 percent)
Buckner saw a big uptick in snaps this week and dominated the Bills offensive line with two sacks and a near 16-percent QB pressure rate. He’s starting to shows signs of his college self and is stepping up his play on the 49ers injury-ravaged defensive line. Buckner makes for a solid pickup in deeper leagues.
Kasim Edebali, DE, New Orleans Saints (32 snaps/46 percent)
Edebali received a season-high 46 percent snap usage in Week 6 and is showing he’s one of the more talented pass rushers on an otherwise bad defense. Edebali got past the Carolina O-line consistently in Week 6, and upped his pressure rate to near 11 percent. If you need help on the defensive line, look to the Saints edge rusher.
Michael Johnson, DE, Cincinnati Bengals (39 snaps/68 percent)
Johnson, while not the elite talent he used to be, still has some IDP relevance. He has consecutive weeks of nine or more fantasy points and notched his first sack of the season in Week 6. Johnson can still produce pressure, as he’s still generating a pressure rate over 12 percent. He’s not going to load up on tackles (6.6-percent tackle rate), so I’d look to add him in big-play scoring formats.
David Irving, DE, Dallas Cowboys (19 snaps/27 percent)
I hope the Cowboys give this kid more snaps. He dominated in 19 snaps against the Packers, forcing three fumbles and notching a sack (resulting in 1.32 points per snap). Irving has been averaging just around 30 percent of the snaps, so he’s someone to get on your radar now as the Cowboys head into their bye week. He’s worth adding in deeper leagues and dynasty formats if you have room on your bench.
Charles Johnson, DE, Carolina Panthers (51 snaps/70 percent)
The sacks haven’t been there, but the pressure has. Even though Johnson only has a half sack, he’s getting to the QB and is producing pressure at a consistent rate (nearly 16 percent). He also leads the Panthers in QB hits with six on the season. The Panthers are heading into their bye week, so now’s the time to get Johnson from the wire if he’s out there.
