IDP Waiver Wire: Week 17 Pickups and Matchup Plays
It's Week 17 and if you're in a championship game, congratulations, however, it's time to petition your commish to change your title game to Week 16. There are some unknows heading into the final week of the season; who will rest, who will get significant snaps? Generally, try to target guys on teams playing for the playoffs; bye week, wild card, anything. As long as teams have something to play for, their starters should receive significant playing time.
IDP Week 17 Waiver Wire Pickups
Defensive Line
Malcolm Brown, DT, New England Patriots (40 snaps/57%)
Brown now has consecutive weeks of double-digit fantasy points and is worth a look in DT-required leagues. He's appeared in at least 63% of the snaps over the last two games, producing 13 tackles and a sack over that span. He looks like a worthy DT2 against the Jets.
Dion Jordan, DE, Seattle Seahawks (33 snaps/45%)
Jordan has sacks in two straight weeks, but is a high-risk play because of his snap rotation. He did get a season-high 45% snap usage in Week 16. If you're looking for a boom or bust DE3 type, he fits the bill with a matchup against one of the least efficient offensive lines when it comes to pass blocking. If he receives a 45–50% snap usage rate, there's multi-sack upside based on his 24% QB pressure rate.
Jerry Hughes, DE, Buffalo Bills (45 snaps/63%)
Hughes produced his first sack since Week 4. From a pass rush standpoint, he's been solid, generating an 11% pressure rate. Hughes should matchup against Laremy Tunsil, who has been below-average in pass blocking.
