Streaming Defenses: Week 5 Fantasy Football Targets
Generally, defenses have to be available on the waiver wire in at least 40% of Yahoo fantasy leagues to be eligible as a streaming option. This ensures we are talking about defenses readily available.
Last week, the Jacksonville Jaguars 16fantasy points against the Jets and finished in a tie for DST2 in most formats. In Week 4, our targets averaged 9 points and, overall, our streaming picks are averaging 11 FP/game.
Continue to target a defense with a home matchup or facing a below average or rookie QB or making a long road trip. Week 5 is here, so let's look the defensive options we're targeting this week:
New York Jets @ CLE
I'm not quite sure what to make of Cleveland anymore. After a promising Week 1 against Pittsburgh, their offense has stalled behind rookie, DeShone Kizer. They have definitely become the offense to target.
Muhammad Wilkerson is a disruptor on the defensive line. He's capable of having an impact both at and behind the line of scrimmage. Kony Ealy and Leonard Williams are linemen that can get to the QB, as well.
Demario Davis has been a surprise at the linebacker position, producing tackles and if you're not careful with the ball, he'll punch it out. Derron Lee is their other inside 'backer capable of making big plays.
Jamal Adams is their 1st round pick who can make a presence in coverage and at the LOS.
The Browns offense has sputtered and are a sieve for opposing defenses. Kizer has a tendency to hold the ball too long, which most times leads to sacks. Through four games, the Browns have allowed the 5th most aFPA to opposing defenses and the Jets are practically free this week.
