Week 5 Fantasy Football Practice News & Notes for Friday
Jaguars QB Blake Bortles (right wrist) took full practice reps all week. Bortles is on track to play in Week 5. The Jaguars are going to try to run the ball in Pittsburgh.
Vikings QB Sam Bradford (knee) took limited practice reps again Friday. He says he feels “much better,” and it now looks like he may return in Week 5. The Vikings play on Monday night, so it’s risky to start Bradford this week. His return would boost the respective floors of Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen.
Raiders QB Derek Carr (back, questionable) took limited practice reps again Friday and is questionable for Week 5. Carr is well ahead of schedule but is very likely to sit out against Baltimore. Week 6 is in play, however.
Colts QB Andrew Luck (right shoulder, out) returned to take limited reps Friday after missing practice Thursday and is out for Week 5. Stephen Holder reported that he’s working on a three-week recovery timeline.
Titans QB Marcus Mariota (hamstring, questionable) took limited practice reps all week and is questionable for Week 5. He told Terry McCormick that he’s “optimistic” about playing against Miami. If he does play, he’ll likely be limited as a runner, which is the part of his game that is clicking on all cylinders right now. He has 20 carries for 116 yards and three scores as a rusher, but is averaging just 198 yards and 0.75 touchdowns through the air.
Bengals QB AJ McCarron (achilles) took full practice reps again Friday.
Jets QB Josh McCown (right shoulder) took full practice reps all week. McCown is fully expected to play, and has a plus matchup against his old team. He’s in the streaming conversation.
Panthers QB Cam Newton (right shoulder) took limited practice reps all week. Newton has created some distractions for himself this week, but after a big Week 4, he’ll be out there against Detroit.
Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (not injury related) took full practice reps again Friday. Big Ben is back at home (where he thrives), but Jacksonville has been extremely stingy against the pass. This is shaping up to be a big Le’Veon Bell game.
Chiefs QB Alex Smith (ankle) took full practice reps all week. Smith will be out there against Houston. He’s been on fire this year, but faces a tough test this week.
