Streaming Defenses: Week 9 Fantasy Football Targets
Generally, defenses have to be available on the waiver wire in at least 40% of Yahoo fantasy leagues to be eligible as a streaming option. This ensures we are talking about defenses that are readily available.
Last week, the Eagles were our top-scoring defense with 20 fantasy points against the 49ers and finished as the DST2 in most formats. In Week 8, our targets averaged 10.7 points and, overall, our streaming picks are averaging 10.5 FP/game.
Continue to target a defense with a home matchup or facing a below average or rookie QB or making a long road trip. Week 9 is here, with another six teams on bye, so let's look the defensive options we're targeting this week:
Los Angeles Rams @ NYG
I prefer to pick on the Giants offense this week that's still missing their top playmaker in Odell Beckham.
The Rams' defensive line which is a force with Aaron Donald and Matt Longacre, who's leading the team in sacks. Longacre is a pass rush specialist who has taken advantage of his blitz snaps. Donald has three sacks himself, as well as 12 QB hits, so he's a threat to get to the QB whenever he wants.
Alec Ogletree is second on the team in tackles and has contributed two sacks for the defense. Mark Barron, the Rams leader in tackles, has contributed big plays, including two INTs.
Nickell Robey leads the secondary in picks with two and Trumaine Johnson has defended five passes.
Even though the Rams are traveling, the Giants' offensive line is in shambles and should be susceptible to pressure from LA's aggressive line. Pressure can lead to turnovers, which Eli Manning is prone to committing. The Rams are available in 43% of leagues.
