Streaming Tight Ends: Week 14 Targets
Fantasy playoff time has finally arrived, are you ready? Unless you have one of a select few TEs, streaming may be your best way to get points from the position moving forward. As a strategy, streaming aims to find players with above-average matchups, which can hopefully translate to TE1 production for your fantasy squad.
For streaming purposes, 4for4’s Schedule-Adjusted Fantasy Points Allowed (aFPA) is a metric we rely heavily on to determine weekly matchup strength. As the season continues to progress and more data is available, aFPA becomes more and more reliable, using rolling 10-week data. Targets and efficiency metrics are also considered when choosing weekly streamers.
4for4 rankings also come into play here and should always be considered when making league-specific roster decisions.
After 13 weeks of football, our optimal TE streamer has 185.5 PPR fantasy points—good enough for TE3 on the season thus far. On to Week 14, and the players who can help you advance to the next postseason round.
In order to provide advice that you can actually implement, candidates for tight end streaming consideration must be owned in no more than 40 percent of Yahoo fantasy leagues.
Top Streaming Picks
Ian Thomas, (Panthers) @ Browns
With Greg Olsen sidelined for the season with a foot injury, Thomas steps in as the starting TE in Carolina’s offense. He caught all five of his targets for 46 yards in Week 13, showing good chemistry with Cam Newton on short routes. The Panthers head to Cleveland to face a defense ranked 30th in TE aFPA, which bodes well for Thomas’ potential this week. NFL playoffs are still within Carolina’s reach, so they will be fighting hard to put all the points on the board that they can. Rostered by no one to this point, Thomas makes an attractive streamer this week at a tough position.
