Streaming Kickers: Week 7 Targets

Projecting a kicker’s output isn’t as difficult or random as you may think—in fact, taking a look at Vegas odds is the best way to accurately predict a kicker’s weekly potential. By focusing in on the team implied point totals, we can get a cumulative idea of how that offense will perform when it comes to settling for field goals, distance of kicks, and the like.

Another metric useful in projecting a kicker’s output is 4for4’s schedule-adjusted fantasy points allowed or aFPA. By removing the schedule bias, we can compare matchups in an apples-to-apples manner. By Week 4, there’s a solid sample size to work from, and the info gets more trustworthy with each data-filled week.

The goal in streaming the kicker position is to roster a player who will return starting kicker fantasy points and Week 6 produced the number one kicker of the week, Jason Myers with a ridiculous 24 fantasy points. 4for4’s optimal streamer has 89 points this season—good enough for the highest point total at the position.

Despite his “twilight career” status, Vinatieri is kicking well, boasting the eighth-most fantasy points at his position so far in 2018. He draws Buffalo at home this week with the Colts favored to win by seven points. The contest’s over/under isn’t super generous (42.5) but there should be ample opportunity for Vinatieri to add points to your roster. Indy’s kicker is owned in 34 percent of Yahoo leagues.

Chandler Catanzaro, (Buccaneers) vs. Browns

Tampa Bay welcomes the Browns on Sunday and are the home favorites by a three-point margin. This game’s over/under is currently a healthy 49.5 points, which should mean plenty of chances for Catanzaro to put points in the board. Cleveland sits in the middle of the league in kicker aFPA, allowing 6.9 schedule-adjusted fantasy points to the position weekly. Catanzaro is on the waiver wire in 90 percent of Yahoo leagues as we begin Week 7.
