Streaming Defenses: Week 9 Targets
Last week, the New England Patriots finished with 20 fantasy points fantasy points and were the DEF1 in most scoring formats. Through eight weeks, our streaming targets are averaging 9.5 fantasy points per game.
This week, you will want to continue targeting defenses with home matchups who are favorited and facing teams with low implied team totals. We also want to target offenses with a below-average or rookie QB.
Generally, defenses have to be available on the waiver wire in at least 40 percent of Yahoo fantasy leagues to be eligible as a streaming option. This ensures we are talking about defenses that are readily available. Week 9 is in our sights, so let's look at the defensive options we're targeting this week.
Top Streaming Targets
New York Jets @ Miami Dolphins
I'm liking the Jets' defense this week, even in a road matchup, against the Dolphins.
Leonard Williams leads the defense in total pressures generated (25), which has resulted in a near 10 percent pressure rate. Henry Anderson has also been under-rated as a pass rusher from the interior, as he's second among the line with three sacks.
Avery Williamson leads the linebackers in tackles (55), while also producing two sacks, an INT and forcing a fumble. Darron Lee has also been responsible for big plays, producing three INTs of his own.
Morris Claiborne leads the secondary in INTs and is making a play on the ball 27 percent of the time he's targeted. Jamal Adams can make plays in the secondary and is leading the defense in tackles (56).
Anytime you're facing Brock Osweiler, there's upside for turnovers. The Jets' defense recorded nine points in their first go-round and the Dolphins are ranked 19th in aFPA to opposing defenses.
The Jets are available in 77 percent of leagues.
