Streaming Tight Ends: Week 10 Targets

After one good week with a bit of promise, it appears we’re back to the tight end wasteland we have come to expect this season. Sadly, this week we’ll be without the use of six teams’ tight ends as the Patriots, Broncos, Eagles, Redskins, Jaguars and Texans are all watching from afar.

As a strategy, streaming aims to find players with above-average matchups, which can hopefully translate to TE1 production for your fantasy squad.

For streaming purposes, 4for4’s Schedule-Adjusted Fantasy Points Allowed (aFPA) is a metric we rely heavily on to determine weekly matchup strength. As the season continues to progress and more data is available, aFPA becomes more and more reliable, using rolling 10-week data. Targets and efficiency metrics are also considered when choosing weekly streamers.

Week 9 was a decent one for me as both Jack Doyle and Ryan Griffin were in the TE1 conversation, finishing as the fantasy TE12 and fantasy TE14 with 11.2 and 11 PPR points, respectively. Our goal in all this is starting tight end results and after nine weeks, 4for4’s optimal streamer has scored 133.7 PPR points, which equates to TE2 numbers on the season.

Chris Herndon / Ryan Griffin (Jets) vs. Giants

Will this finally be the week we see Herndon on the field in 2019? The sophomore tight end was actually active in Week 9, but he didn’t see any game action against Miami. Griffin has done a nice job in his absence with three of the last four contests ending in double-digit PPR points for him.

This week, the Jets stay home in an inter-state matchup against the Giants, whose defensive unit currently sits 20th in aFPA to the position. With it as ugly as it can possibly be this week at tight end, whoever is the starter between these two makes for the top streamer of the week. Herndon is on 30% of Yahoo! rosters while Griffin is free in 97% of leagues heading into Week 10.
