Streaming Tight Ends: Week 7 Targets

Not only is the tight end position paper-thin in 2020, but this week we have four teams chilling at home on their couches. Fantasy managers will be without the services of Trey Burton/Jack Doyle, Irv Smith Jr., Mark Andrews and Mike Gesicki, along with the other random Miami tight ends who popped up last week.

As a strategy, streaming aims to find players with above-average matchups, which can hopefully translate to fantasy TE1 production for your fantasy squad. For streaming purposes, 4for4’s Schedule-Adjusted Fantasy Points Allowed (aFPA) is a metric we rely heavily on to determine weekly matchup strength. As the season continues to progress and more data is available, aFPA becomes more and more reliable, using rolling 10-week data. Targets and efficiency metrics are also considered when choosing weekly streamers.

Our goal in all this is starting tight end results. In Week 6, my best streamer was Darren Fells, whose 17.5 half-PPR performance was the fantasy TE5 for the week, followed by Irv Smith Jr.’s 9.5 half-PPR points, which equated to fantasy TE11 numbers. So far, 4for4’s optimal streamer boasts 104.4 total points—good enough for the overall fantasy TE1 on the season.

In order to provide advice you can actually implement, candidates for streaming must be rostered in no more than 40% of Yahoo! fantasy leagues.

Logan Thomas (Football Team) vs. Cowboys

For three consecutive weeks, Logan Thomas has seen four targets, which isn’t fantastic but is still enough to make him a decent streaming candidate. The Washington Football team is not exactly an offensive powerhouse, but they do get a decent matchup in Week 7.

Dallas currently ranks 24th in TE aFPA, as they’ve surrendered double-digit half-PPR weeks to Hayden Hurst, Austin Hooper and the Seattle tight end group, with an average of 13.4 aFPA so far this season. Thomas is sitting on 85% of Yahoo! waiver wires as I type this.
